Yes hard to say. What hat are people divided on? I don't see all the posts. :)

I was referring to the turned hat that Harrison Ford wore in the Raiders of the Lost Ark. The bow was more forward than normal because the hat was turned slightly to the right. Some folks here love the look, and others turn up their noses at it. And of course, many people couldn't care less. :)

Beautiful hat.

Is the liner still attached? Because it looks like it could be rotated to the right so that the seam is under the bow, and the label would run straight across.
Thanks Scotty.

The liner is attached. It appears to me that some poor prior owner did a profoundly crummy reattachment.

I thought about fixing it as soon as the hat came to me. I decided not to for a sentimental reason: the writing on the inside of the sweatband indicates that the hat was made in 1946. My dear ol' dad was born that year. He's kind of eccentric. So, every time I see the skewed liner, I am happily reminded of my similarly off-kilter dad and my gratitude to him. Plus... I kind of dig the juxtaposition between such an unattractive liner attachment and such a beautiful hat.

My sentiments may change with time. And when they do, I'll speedily remedy the issue. It does look like garbage for no objectively good reason.

Enjoy.

Good score. What a gem.
Thanks Bill.
Nice RD, Matt! Overwelt? What's the brim width?

I love all my Gannons, and gravitate to a couple over the others. They all feel great on my head and are excellent pieces of craftsmanship. The fact that I wear this one less than the others does NOT diminish my love for it. Easily my "dressiest" Gannon. I love light colored hats and the burgundy ribbon treatment is a wonderful contrast with the Silvermist felt.

Thanks Jim.

Yep... overwelt. 2 inch brim (a bit less than what seems to be my sweet spot, but that's a.o.k.). '50s vintage based on the size tag.

That silvermist is bomb. And yeah... the burgundy ribbon is just an ingenious touch.
That’s a beauty, Matt!
Thanks Rick.

Excellent looking hat and great outfit, Michael.
Thanks steur. I like my tweed almost as much as heathered hats.

Stylish. I also think the boots work well with the rugged tweed.

Thanks Serge. The boots are some Swedish Army winter boots from the mid-60s. I just remembered having them yesterday and they seemed fitting for the wet and muddy conditions. What I didn't remember is how remarkably comfortable they are. I think I'll be pulling them out a lot in the next few months worth of mire around here.

Love the outfit. Five grays that work together perfectly!
Thanks scotty. It worked for me, glad to hear it did for someone else too.

Thanks all,
Michael

Well, since it was my idea, it's by definition NOT ingenious!

Wacky Wednesday!

When I arrived home last night, this nifty Royal De Luxe was waiting on my doorstep.

It appears to have never been worn. Although, some of our hungry insect friends did snack on it in a few places. I hope that they found the hat as tasty as I find its interesting brown color and the great variations it displays in different lighting conditions.

I've had a couple recent eBay disappointments. Now... my hat purchasing faith is restored.

Have a swellerrifical day, all.

Great looking find Matt. The sweat and liner do look pristine.

Man I do like that hat. What a great ribbon color for the silvermist felt.

Looks good on you Bob. Cool hat band.

We’ll have to find an excuse for a beer at some point, Jim!

Thanks to everyone who commented or liked yesterday’s Adventurebilt. Steve Delk made a lot of great hats.

Cold and rainy today - good CampDraft day.
Cheers!
David
Good bullet proof hat for that kind of day. Looks super David.
