mayserwegener, Jimmy, Buler & Scott - thank y'all! :)

Expanding the raw edge body of my collection is definitely on my agenda for 2009. I'll be out in the wilderness to get me some 30's hats...watch out, Garrett! :D

A photo would be great.

I kind of like his technique!

"...it was a dark and gloomy day. I glanced over my shoulder, imagining that I was behind me with a camera, about to take my picture. Yes, it was all about me...me and my impeccable taste in vintage hats. Sporting (I like the term 'sporting') a mid-30s misshapen olive drab fedora, blue jeans, white t-shirt and a black leather jacket (made out of that thin Chinese leather that flakes when it comes in contact with Scotch tape), I walked past the Middle-Eastern furniture and accoutrement store that had never sold a piece of furniture or an accoutrement in the 3 1/2 years that I lived next to it, (older more suspicious residents were certain it was a money-laundering operation)I continued toward the coffee shop that doubled as the living room to my studio condo, pausing once to narcissistically glance at my reflection in the large dark windows of the kabob shop bordering 'my' living room...I couldn't wait to get home and post a description of the picture of me that I never took, and to receive the virtual applause that I so richly deserved...3.25" raw edge brim, 9 ligne shiny green ribbon, roughly bashed teardrop...$10 on ebay"

(a friend once peeked over my shoulder at the 'What hat are you wearing today?' thread, and laughed quite heartily - I think the above is basically how she views us)

Well heck, I could write something like that if I had dodgy accoutrement shops, studio apartments with coffee shops, kebab-eries and a bunch of cool hats. It's much harder to work with a suburban brick ranch house, a Civic and one navy blue Christy's snap-brim. Or did you "sex it up" with some made-up bits there?

I went to court today, and to Provincial Audience, it was, so I assembled a pretty formal outfit... Brown hues basically, hence a brown homburg made a good choice.

Winter seems to have finally stablished itself; it was chilly outside, so my overcoats are making their appearance!

Hat is a Dobbs homburg; this one I like unpinched. The bowtie has cooper brown stripes, which pick on the hat's reddish ribbon.

An anecdote: unusually, three of the subpoened witnesses wore bowties- a ballistics expert witness, the medical examiner, and myself, as a crime scene specialist witness. This is the first time I see so many bowties in a single courtroom :) On the other hand, I was the only one of the three with a self-tied bowtie :D .

Torpedo! You look incredible in that outfit. Hands down, you beat me in court attire now and in the future! I detest the word "awesome" but if I didn't, I'd use it here! That Dobbs caps an absolutely wonderful ensemble. :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Stetson Open Road

I have always had trouble describing the color of this lid. Buler's recent post of early 50's catalogues featuring Stetson western hats shows that "gold" was one of the available colors. I'm wondering if this might an example of Stetson's gold color in its western line... [huh]

Looks great, as always, Jimmy! :eusa_clap

I wore another Whippet today. This one also displays the excellent crease provided by my friend, Jimmy, but this one worried me a bit. When Jimmy returned it, it took eight days to find its way home instead of the promised two or three. But it did arrive and was surely no worse for the absence. In fact, it's much better with Jimmy's teardrop.

This one is kind of interesting. The crown is shorter and a little more tapered than the others I have, but it's still a Whippet.

Another beauty, Bob! :eusa_clap

Actually, this is from yesterday while I was babysitting the grandkids. Yes, they are in their Halloween costumes:eek: ....sue me!:D

I, on the other hand, am in my Resistol San Antonio. After they changed, we hit the Stockyards in Ft. Worth for the "cattle drive" show.

All the places exist as described, but I wore my Spinner and a maroon shirt today. :p (I love Seattle)
