I got married in the most insanely gorgeous dress I've ever seen. From the 1950s, and made of heavy silk satin, it is dripping with rhinestones, glass beads, and pearls. I had to have a lot of alterations done to it, as the original owner was much taller than me, and the bodice was sized for a D cup and a B cup.
After the ceremony, we went down to the casino in our formal garb, and got a lot of stares, even for Vegas!

I wore my semi-formal mess dress, which is the standard Air Force Class-A uniform with a white shirt. My lovely bride was in an ivory dress.

And here we are. I even baked the cake you see. Unfortunately the topper would not stay on so it ended up sitting on the table.

Marriage doesn't look likes it's on the cards for, but if ever it did it'd be full traditional morning dress for me, with a wing collar shirt and cravat. A real cravat.... call me a snob, but the one thing I've grown to loathe even more than a pre tied bow tie is a pre tied cravat. Vile things. I mean, I'll get the most people are put off learning how to tie a bow tie for real (even though it's actually really quite simple), but what able bodied person has an excuse for not being able to manage a cravat? It's simpler than a four in hand!!! Bah....

For me, it would be top hat and morning coat - torm between black and dove grey for both of those - with a waistcoat in either a pale gold or ivory, crimson cravat, linen pocket square, and morning trousers with button braces. Shoes wise I would be tempted to break with traditional rules and have all the other guys in either black pattern brogues or black toe caps, while I wore black with white spectators or corespondants.

A recent trend I've seen a lot of is with waistcoats and cravats, with the rest of the men wearing the reverse colours from the groom. I'm in two minds about that - I can see how it looks good in some respects, though I like the distinctions to be a touch more sublte than that.

I don't care for when men at weddings remove half the suit at the reception - backless waistcoats look ridiculous, IMO, without the jacket on over the top, and as for this business of rolling up the sleeves.... ghastly.

I'm getting married next year. The groomsmen and I will be wearing traditional morning suits, cravats and top hats.

Barnett College Suit.

In March I was married in the Barnett College Three-Piece Suit by Indy Magnoli. My wife had her dress made from a 1938 Simplicity pattern. Our wedding was a 1940's one since we are both WW2 reenactors. Most people said that more people were in period dress at our wedding than most Hangar Dances they go to.

I was married in a simple black suit that I purchesed for the event and black dress shoes. Nothing special. The only exciting thing I wore was my white socks with holly on them. My wife's name is Holly so I thought it fitting. Those are now my special socks I only wear for very special occasions.

A navy blue Brooks Brothers suit. Was married for nine yrs and the suit lasted 12!

My daughter is gettnig married next month and she has resquested that we all wear tan. So a tan suit it is.

I wore a repro D/B from Rock-A-Cha, dark blue wool with dark red pinstripe, white vintage shirt, vintage tie with a stylised letter 'S', black shoes. It rained all day, hence the umbrellas, and yes, I know I should have the umbrella over my wife-to-be in the second photo...

Sue's dress was hand made, ivory silk, with lace petticoats, bought from a shop at the Antiquarias antiques market in Kings Road, Chelsea.

The car is a right-hand drive 1951 Mercury, originally brought to London for a Motor Show in '51.

aww thanks I was trying to find the picture of the sword arch when they lowered the swords and whacked my rear (really hard too) to 'welcome' me into the Marine Corps but I don't think it got scanned in. [huh] oh well

I wore my black cutaway with cravat and top hat, and spatz!My best friend wore the same. My wife's gown was a light pink silk with pearls. It was just family and garden party to follow. No pics to show as we were not yet in the digital age.

I wore (in 2004) the suit that my father wore when he got married in 1963. The tie was one that belonged to my grandfather (Dad's dad) that dates from the twenties. It's one of the few things I have that was my grandfather's. It's a knitted silk tie; very unusual.

If I get married, it'll be Morning Dress, or (if everything goes to plan) Naval uniform. Just need to find a gal, and pass the AIB and health exams .
