Thought I should post an update to this. Had a word with the old man and he gave me one of his tie-racks. Now my ties don't have to be rolled up inside a box.

I actually prefer the "rolled in a box" storage method (or in may case rolled in a drawer). I believe it is less stressful on the tie.

Any thoughts from the other gents here?

I just hang my ties on a couple of plastic hangers I have in the closet. Nothing fancy. Starting to run out of room though, so some ties are on top of others. Eventually I'd like to get a "fancypants" cedar tie rack of some sort. I don't have the storage space to roll them all, plus it seems hanging them up staightens them if they become wrinkled from wearing them on humid or rainy days.

Over the last couple of decades that I've owned ties (new or vintage) and hung them in a closet I've never noticed any related stress. The rolled method is fine if you have the drawer space. Whatever works..

Great finds all. Dubya, the one on the far right may be a bit "busy," but for a thinner tie, it's a killer...

Here is my contribution, especially for autumn. I think it's a beautiful tie however I seldom wear it (even in autumn). My clothes are very British and, as such, this style of ties is a little 'wide' for my look.

That's a nice looking tie. Very autumn looking with the yellow/gold leaves. That's an interesting background design.

A Wilson Brothers Yellowstone Print. Very nice. I pick up all those that I find. Wilson Brothers made some great ties. I have yet to find an ugly tie made by them.

Since I sold all my vintage ties, it's time to start again. This one, I have no idea how old, seems to have been embroidered by someone in the throws of DTs. Pink Pengiuns--I'm just guessing here--were not a popular subject in any era.

Penguins were actually a popular subject in the 1950s. There was a musical group and penguins were used as motifs for a variety of things----not as much as the pink flamingo though.

I picked up this odd one from a thrift shop today. I cannot pinpoint the age. The cut and construction are every much like a 1930s Arrow tie I have, but the pattern and colors don't seem to fit in the 30s, although that's just my impression. It measures 47" long and 3.75" wide. Label: The Talisman: Exquisite Silk Finely Tailored.

I'm not a huge fan of the salmon-pink-red color of the apparently microscope organism patterns, but the lighter to darker blue texture is quite dazzling in the light.
