I like wide ties, too. I've got a bit of a wide belly, a wide tie covers it more lol
I like 4 inch ties. You can send the wide one to me.

Found this at a yard sale today. Marked as an Ormond. 1930s? I also picked up a dozen 1940s neckties that I'll display later....they need pressed. I love days like this!

I'm not sure, QB, but I'm thinking more post-WWII. Nice score, and don't forget to show us the neckties when they are pressed. (And love that Towncraft Plus Penn-Prest shirt.)

I would definitely take that one, although you know it goes against my fiscal policies to bid that high...c.Early 1950s, perhaps? What think ye all? Yes, Damon was a great label; as cool as the griffen is, though, too bad it couldn't be the Portuguese rooster, no?

Fiscal Policy! :rofl: It is probably an early 50s model. The width and pattern fits the time period. Most Damons you find now are those thin things. Not rooster. Those are for farms not ties.

Sorry for the lagging; been away. 98 cents a pop! I finished washing them with Dawn and water, and 19 of the 22 checked out okay during my color fast test. 2 ran during that test (I test where the collar hides the fabric), and I didn't even bother trying the hand painted silk because chances are it will run and it is spotless to begin with. Even after testing, the blue on the yellow and blue tie third from left in photo two started running in cold water, but I was able to get it out, rinsed, and dried rolled in a towel fast enough to salvage, but it's food stains are going to stick around for anther day. Aside from that, they mostly came out really nice--this guy was one heck of a smoker! I might try the 99 cent store oxyclean that Widebrime suggests for some persistent staining on a couple ties that seem stout enough to take the chemicals.
QB, let me know if you find the tie in Fit to be Tied. Maybe even a screen shot if it's not trouble? That would be cool.
I especially like the red one! Very nice.

Berkley was pretty well known years ago, QB. They made some really nice ties, and you found one of them. Man, you've got the luck of the Irish when it comes to yard sales...
