Thanks. Yes. I was thinking late 50s because I dislike the 60s even more but OK. Maybe it is 20s Haha. I have another bow tie from the same seller that said "20s" Almost the same size as the "40s" :eusa_doh:

@ flattop: Yes. That's how I imagine a 40s bowtie. Good repro.

@ hbk: It's from levis. The stitching on the collar is rather raw and it has a western yoke back. But I like the thick cotton fabric and the mop buttons.

These are some really nice ties! You're making me wish I had more with pointed ends! I really like that look!

Okay I need some advice. I know it's generally considered a fashion no-no to wear a tie with a short sleeved shirt, unless you're looking for the NASA 60's master control look. Admittedly I've indulged in this look before a few times. But now that it's getting hot and humid where I'll probably start wearing short sleeves more often. With a rack of bow ties staring back from my closet every morning...I'm wondering if bow ties & short sleeves would be looked upon the same as a long tie? I found one picture of Ian Fleming wearing a short sleeved shirt with a bow tie. Is that enough justification to do it?

Well he did live in Jamaica. He looks pretty good to me, however. I say do it with confidence and you will carry it off.

Much of what we regard as fashion advice may have originated in Europe which historically has cooler weather than much of the USA. We have heat and in some places humidity in the summer that can make being dressed up an uncomfrotable task. The Brits in Jamaica and some of the tropical areas did concide to the heat and made some changes for it. If the creator of James Bond did it, it's good enough for me.
