Pearls Of The Orient

Posting a few snapshots from our past week in Macau and Hong Kong. It is monsoon season here, with humidity in the 80% range and near matching temperature and dew points in the upper 80's. Just brushed by Typhoon Kai-tak a few days ago. We are headed back to Taipei for another week before returning to Minnesota.

At the Ruins Of the Cathedral Of St. Paul in Macau. Awe inspiring despite just the remains of the facade left still standing. OPTIMO Montecristi.

Senado Square, Macau. OPTIMO Montecristi.

Visiting the Tian Tan Buddha on Lantau Island, Hong Kong. It was the world's tallest outdoor bronze seated Buddha prior to 2007, at 34 meters or 112 feet in height.

Searching for antiques along Hollywood Road, Hong Kong. Built by the Royal Engineers in 1844, it was the first road to be completed following the founding of the colony of Hong Kong.

Walking past the Central Police Station, one of the remaining vestiges of colonial Hong Kong.

Enjoying the sights and aural delight at the Yuen Po Street Bird Garden.

That's a neat Cav straw, Robert. The print on the pug reminds me of a lamp my parents had that was made from a printing roller used for relief printing of fabric.

Seabass, those kids have a cool grand dad. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

AL, I hope you enjoyed a terrific vacation. It must be a little daunting to wear those precious Optimos in tropical conditions. They look fantastic.

Randall, the new Borso is a star.

Although most of us here don't particularly care for the "Indy" comments, I was feeling a bit sartorially inspired by the good Dr. Jones today, not the same color palette, but a similar ensemble topped off by my Dobbs Gay Prince (still waiting for my Adventurebilt! ;))

Great stuff, Chasseur - I remember seeing the shots from Taiwan when you posted them before. Love the one of you giving heck to the Parliament!

Nice pics by the railway too, looks as though it was an enjoyable trip. Great Dobbs 20!

Ordinary Guy: Things have changed much since your last visit, but I think most all of it for the better. Thanks for your kind words!

Chasseur: Splendid images from Taiwan and Alaska. Just a bit cooler during your visit than it is here now!

Thanks, Fellas!

I really appreciate the kind remarks, gentlemen!

Manfred: We are having a ball, but it is a long time to be away from home and work for three plus weeks! Our best wishes to you and your family as well.

David: It will feel downright cold when we return to Minnesota next week! That Black Cherry is sweeet!

Robert: Nice Cavanagh! Hollywood, au naturale? Hope you have that Wiener Horn in hand by now. ;)

Che: Looking dapper with your grandsons!

Alan: The hedonistic excesses of our trip are partially offset by the remarkably warm and humid weather, and the work that awaits me when we return to Minnesota! I am really delighting in wearing my Montecristis in this weather, and they have been on my noggin at all hours except during slumber. I think that, contrary to common perception, they are much more resilient than imagined, even with the finest weaves, and I do not hesitate for a moment to enjoy them, without any trepidation.

Jared: Looking like you are ready for some adventure somewhere...except where we are at the moment! lol
