Those old Hondas and Yamahas just have a lot of class to them, and from what I have heard, they can take a beating. I have been keeping an eye on a few Honda CMs and such from the 70s. I think if I stay in the "new biker" range of 200-250cc (I like small underpowered vehicles anyway), I ought to be able to keep my budget, not to mention how much cheaper insurance is. However, we will see how I feel after I learn to ride the darn things in the Spring.

I enjoyed those Hondas immensely during my school years. I rode them rain or shine and only took a couple of tumbles. Another forty-years went by before I rode again and I got the bike of my dreams. Always a Bronson fan, I had always wanted a Sportster - mine is a very low mileage 1999 1200, and I am one happy biker! Here is a pic I did of it in HDR:

I love that bike too. Only "problem" is that everyone calls those sporty's "chic bikes". I think it's one of the most true motorcycles out there. I also love orange. I get harassed about my orange thing. My friend down the block had one of these. We (mostly he) spent many many days riding it through the block-long alleyways in Canarsie. This is the bike I learned how to shift gears on at about 14 years old.

I never saw it as a 'problem.' That's their inadequacies showing through.
I had an '81 ironhead Sportster for years. Rode it everywhere.

Mine, too. Started with a QA50 (best friend had the MiniTrail 50) then moved up to the Trail 70. Next was Elsinore 100....Late 60's & early 70's were fun = You meet the nicest people on a Honda....

You are right Butte! It was an SL100 come to think of it. The Elsinore was not street legal.

Mine was red like this & at one time I took off the lights & replaced metal fenders, added number plate & different exhaust, all to MX it.
I sold all the parts with it to a high school friend when I went off to college in '77. He reassembled it & rode it for years as his main street sled.
