Gotta stop buying jackets....

I was getting worried myself with a similar situation. Reading this calms me. It seems to be quite common.
I've event tried to rationalize by ordering the jackets according to weather suitability. So if it's like -10C I'll wear this one, for 5C that one is better, etc.. And of course some jackets look better with jeans and others with a pair of twill work pants, etc..
Others collect video games or movies or guitars, in my case it's clothes ;-)
I think, as long as you enjoy wearing the items you're fine.

I have to show the parts about "100+ jackets" and "350+ Hawaiian shirts" to my girlfriend, she'll never again say I'm nuts ordering my second jacket from Aero. ;) I will leave out the part with the never-to-be-washed jeans-jacket, though. I sort of cannot relate to it, to put it mildly :eeek: :D
No, seriously, I don't like having so many things - even if I could afford them - because I hate it when perfectly good things are rotting in the closet. And what kind of wardrobe you need for that! No way... As with leather-jackets, I have the feeling mine will need another 2 years or so of wearing before it looks remotely cool, so how do this with 20 jackets or more? You'ld have to cheat... :)

Hats, boots, leather jackets, watches, knives...could be stamps, baseball cards, thimbles, shot glasses....I wear & use them all. They don't sit on shelves for display..I've said "enough" about buying anymore of all of them only to fail at abstaining....oh well, what I consider my "estate" for the family to sort thru after I'm done here....

Coins, watches, boots, shoes, jackets, jeans are my current things. Jackets are the newest with only five years under my belt. If I don't use it (clothing, etc) it gets flipped or given to Good Will or Disabled American Vets. I have a smaller house so no room for insane amounts of anything. I got to ~15 jackets and then cracked. Down to five now. They just don't get wear time if I have too many. Watches are just too damn much. I could buy two new jackets for each watch in used condition. I watched a few episodes of "Hoarders" and started giving things away lol

I have decided that around five leathers will do, but each must be a perfect exemplar of its kind. I've got there with two, perhaps three, so far but have gone through at least a dozen to reach this stage. Occasionally, I realise to myself, "Hey, I like wearing things other than leather jackets."

Nothing comes of it, though.

Nylon flight jackets and A-2's are the current micro obsession in my collecting habit. I recently did a count for another forum and I have 14 favorite jackets of one type or another. That did not include actual coats, like my Pea Coats or Barbour's. I figure I have to stop at some point but it probably won't be anytime soon. My GF just gives token resistance at this point but she's keeping a list so that if I do shuffle off this mortal coil, she's going to sell everything and go on a sweet vacation on the profits. :D

I'm not saying leather jackets are cheap, but if you are into collecting guitars, a brand new Aero or even Goodwear(new price hike)isn't even 1/2 way there to a good Gibson re-issue Les Paul, or ES-335!

Well, yeah but if you want to talk about stuff being overpriced, you don't need to look much further than Gibson's catalogue.... ;)

He's been a tele player mostly all his life as far as I know but I wouldn't put it past him. Famous Les Paul junior players have been Johnny Thunders, Mick Jones, the guy from Mott the Hoople, Cheetah Chrome, the guy from Green Day.

Johnny Thunders really owns that sound though, to my mind anyway.

Love the single-humbucker. What model is it?

Hi Craig

Here's a full shot of that one. It's a single pup (obviously), but not a humbucker. The pup is called a P90, which predated the humbucking design, which didn't appear until around 1965. Killer tone......

The axe is actually a customised "Billy Joe" (from Green Day) model, which uses the vintage Custom Shop body (as opposed to the modern Gibson USA junior body), and comes in a rather nifty leopard skin case. I just changed out all the hardware to make it a little unique:D;)

I think you're right, HWM, though I recall reading a Nick Kent article in which Keef's guitar tech had a habit destroying any table top he could find post-gig in his endless quest for the perfect guitar frame. I suspect I saw a Gibson ad with Richards' playing a modified Les Paul, though as we know that means nothing.

MM that's a stunner alright. But I remember as a teen, my Jimmy Page worship almost pushed me to offer up my soul in return for a sunburst Les Paul.:D
