We have fun together, for sure. We got back to the car from this hike and she asked me if we could hike to Paddy's Creek tomorrow. She enjoys getting out - and so do I.
That's great Big Man, the adventure lives on. There is a spot in Cornwall that will never change, no trees will grow or the land developed, I told my daughter to bring her children there and remember times with me as a child as I remember those with my grandfather.

Great reading fellow adventurers! This spring I will be heading back for my fourth time to the Grand Canyon! This will be for my 50th birthday. Can't say I use anything vintage but this will be the first year I will be wearing a straw Fedora or cowboy hat instead of a ball cap. I've been doing the backpacking thing long enough to know vintage items belong in a camper or on a horse. Not on your back.

Baja Adventure
My wife and I spent our Christmas break driving down the length of Baja, again. We did it last in 2010, so it was an adventure all over again this time.
My wife is fascinated by the cirios trees, so we spent some time in the Valle de los Cirios. She took a lot of pictures of cirios trees!

One of the highlights for me was our visit to the mission at San Javier. It is about 22 miles into the mountains from Loreto, and is a pristine little village with the mission at the heart.

My wife taking photos of the pelicans as the sun sets over the Mar de Cortez, and the odd geologic formation on the mountain n the other side of the road. My wide had just said something extremely funny, apparently.
Another highlight was our trip up into the Sierra de San Fransisco Mountains to see some of the prehistoric rock art. We started in San Ignacio, and after visiting the missin there again, we First, we had to climb up onto the mesas, about 7,000 feet asl, then take this "road" into a remote goat herding village. The road was all rock, and if we had met anyone coming the other way one of us would have had to back up for a mile or so to find a place wide enough to pass. In the village we paid our fee then met our guide, Guillermo, who let us into the site.
After a couple nights camping, the temperature started to drop on New Years' Eve, so we splurged on an in credible hotel in downtown Loreto. We also went to mass in the Loreto mission. My wofe is standing next to a natural cross that stands in the courtyard of the mission.
The road home was a bit chillier, and the wife was pretty bundled up by the time we stopped at the mission in Mulegé. I just added a jacket! The town of Mulegé is set in one huge desert oasis, where the Río de Santa Rosalía empties into the Mar de Cortez.
On the road home again. No engine trouble, just checking the tire pressure; my tire pump connects directly to the battery.

Though not a picture of me wearing my hat while sitting atop a burro or baking my way through a tropical jungle, I was in Washington, D.C. recently. That's a "jungle" all its own, and with no shortage of....well, "Burro buts" shall we say?
So, this is probably as good a thread as any to post this pic of me and my "walkabout" hat as we passed by the IRS bldg one day.
I just swung by to say hello to all the tax dollars I've had to send them through the years, don't ya know?
