My LHB from Aero finally arrived today after about 9 weeks from date of order.

It is everything I was expecting - the Cordovan hide is extremely nice which is complemented by the quilted rayon acetate lining that I prefer. The fit is just slightly large (size 46) on me but being of a certain age I think it looks pretty good although not nearly as tailored as many strive for on this forum. This type of lining has been recently reintroduced by Aero and it is quite similar to my first regular 1950's half-belt although that lining is a brick color vice this red/green combo.

Needless to say I am quite pleased with the coat although it is understandably stiff but this will ease with use. I did notice there is no rub-off or marking as is the case with my 15 year old 1950's half-belt in black FQHH. Maybe the tanning process has changed since then.

I'm attaching some images of my new coat for reference. It's hard to capture the true color of the hide as it changes with lighting. Please be kind with any comments regarding fit issues as time and gravity have been taking their toll on me for over 6 decades!

Very sharp looking and will allow you to layer underneath for additional warmth during winter. It reminds me somewhat of my Teamster in that regard. Personally I don't prefer a tight fitting coat in the longer styles.

How do you rate that lining for warmth and bulkiness?

The quilted lining does provide an extra measure of warmth/comfort in reference to my regular 1950's half-belt. That jacket is actually a bit larger so when it's really nippy out I usually wear an extra layer. As my region is in mid-Spring, it's too warm for wearing of my new coat anytime soon but I imagine I will have the same measure of warmth/comfort. The quilted lining is throughout the interior including the sleeves w/storm cuffs which are standard on the LHB.

I grew up in the late 50's and young lads were wearing leather car coats similar to the LHB which is why I really favor that style. I'm rather tall so I can wear a longer coat which complements me and the coat!

Loving that new shot-silk rayon quilting. Denny sent me a shot of this lovely Original Hercules they made for somebody using it.
-

A really lovely jacket. Aero's goat skin's got loads of character from the get-go. Whoever's due to get this is very lucky!

Yes, I recall someone from Aero posting a pic of the newly available lining awhile back which is why I submitted my order for the LHB with this lining throughout the interior sans the courdoury band along the bottom edge. The neat thing about the color is that it changes based on how the light reflects off the lining just as the light affects the color of the cordovan hide. It really is a striking
combo IMHO.

You must surely remember those wonderful irridescent clothes of the late "50's and early '60's? Jerry Lewis's suits in the Nutty Professor when he turns into the cool guy? Anyway, that jacket looks great on you, and I think you'll find it to be one of the most useful jackets you've ever owned. I've had mine for four years now and I still consider it my favorite. It's particularly great for travelling in, as those pockets all seem to find a specific function. Also, I found the break-in time to be almost negligable, and that the leather immediately softens up as it absorbs your body heat. Cheers!

I will chime i and say you have done a good job on that one. I like the quilted lining as I have that in two or three of my riding and street jackets. Congratulations on a good buy.

Thanks so much. If I recall correctly, you are one of the folks on here that has a LHB in Cordovan that I saw on here awhile back. Of course your jacket provided a more svelte look in comparison to mine. I really liked the look of your jacket which influenced my decision to get the LHB in Cordovan. The only difference (I think) was that I selected the steerhide over the FQHH.

That looks superb. I'll be interested to hear how the quilt lining wears over time: I'm giving serious consideration to having that in a bike jacket in due course - possibly even a Barnstormer. It certainly looks really cool.
