I didn't realize you could do such a thing... I was kind of kidding about waxing, but now that you mention it.

I do love the shinyness of the FQHH sample I got and my jacket is definitely duller. It shines more in pictures which is interesting. I didn't want to get garish, I just wanted to possibly bump it up a notch. Is it bad to use a creme on these jackets? I know the horween is tanned with lots of fats and waxes. I wouldn't want to introduce more chemicals to it. So much to learn...

I had one Aero that was mirror shiny without looking fake. J106. Best leather I've sever seen... Never got one like it, again. I stopped caring so I'm using creme, shoe polish, etc. on all my jackets, where I think there's a need for it. My Lewis Leathers Phantom had some large faded spots on the back that I rubbed black shoe polish creme onto and now it's perfectly black again. Used half a tube of red polish creme on my red Cafe Racer. The jacket just looks better than ever. I'm also thinking of using a black creme on it to make it the most awesome jacket in the world but I'm not sure if I have what it takes...

It's funny how tastes vary. I strongly dislike shininess! It can't go away soon enough! Much prefer matte.

I grew up with too many shiny leather clad heroes like Lou Reed, the Ramones & the leather guy from the Village People...

Ugh, I hate repeatedly misspelling words but neither way looks right! Shininess/shinyness.

a solid brushing with a horse hair brush will go a long way on CXL.

lol aw shucks. Really, don't worry about it. CXL is an extremely tough leather, the stuff they use for bags and shoes. It's meant to take a beating. There's lotsa things in it, fats and grease and dyes... I strongly doubt that any leather paste or creme could harm it in any possible way. And because it displays such variation in tones, you can't really mess it up even if you apply a creme that's not the exact colour match.

when you shine the jacket, just don't shine it all evenly, pick here and there spots where you want to touch up/ buff up an extra shine.

Good point - I definitely want to play around with this. I was just going to use chamois to apply and buff, is that a proper technique? It sounds like the horse hair brush talk above has a questionable history, and maybe not the kind of advice I should follow...

Horsehide brushes are a good thing. The problem comes from Yak brushes. They can be super expensive, particularly when purchased from the Internet from a certain website. Most of you more recent Lounge members will have no idea what I'm alluding to, but others such as Peacoat, HD, etc will.
