I enjoyed this quote as it appears in the article -

If Einstein dislikes his fame and would like to increase his privacy, why does he … wear his hair long, a funny leather jacket, no socks, no suspenders, no ties?

I'm glad it is going to Levi's archives. I think that is the only place where it belongs.

The price is nuts though but I guess they have that kind of money just lying around the office table like it is just a couple of coins.

It would be even nicer if they can put it on public display. I think it is also time for LVC to put this Relativity jacket back into production.....

Problem with that quote is it makes the erroneous assumption that Mr E dressed as he did to get attention.

They did a version a few years ago with patch pockets and what looks like the same leather, a type of soft goatskin. (Not the Sky fall jacket) They called it the Menlo cossack jacket.

I love mine - the patch pockets have more character than the slashed style IMO.

I wonder if he didn't get the jacket at a little shop off of Nassau Street that was an old shop back in the Sixties and is still there. It's a narrow little place that sells Levi's, leather jackets, heavy socks and sweaters, etc. It would have been like him to avoid the preppy shops on the main drag. These days the whole town has become a sort of Ralph Lauren academic theme park.

When Einstein was a young man long hair, a leather jacket, turtleneck sweater and dungarees was the uniform of the student radical, copied from the every day dress of the working man. Most of his contemporaries bought suits and ties once they graduated and got a job. Apparently he never abandoned the look even in old age.

I always wondered how he caught Marilyn Monroe's eye...

That's easy - she had a real thing for intelligent men. There are women (and men) who find genius to be the ultimate aphrodisiac.

Supposedly this happened.
Monroe: "I want to have your children. With my looks and your brain, they'll be perfect!"
Einstein: "What if they have my looks and your brain?"
