Fantastic lid Jim! What is the liner like? Is it an early 1950s or 40s? Love the details!

Late 40s early 50s I reckon. I still have the original sweat packed away. It was my first refurb project. My first sweat from Bond. First naphtha bath; the ribbon wasn't curled well; the sharksgill looks like it was done by Stevie Wonder; it has moth holes and staining, and I "blocked" it on a flower pot.

Damn, I love this hat.

I love that Adam logo with the top hats. It looks just fine in spite of yourself. I will have to try the flower pot method, or maybe a punkin (probably more to my noggin style).

Hey all!
Well, I tried a diamond, a drop and a C, but it seems that what this Stephen L. Stetson really wants is a center dent. So I gave in and let it have it's way.

I guess I'm just an agreeable kind of guy.:)
Have a great day!

I love that crease! Our hats are much smarter than we are sometimes.

San Francisco Hatter today for a trip out. I've been thinking this crease is in need of some revamping. Mike Miller set it after a refurb and new ribbon (which I love) when it was completed a few months ago. I may have to do some research on lower crowned hats of the 1930s. It has a low crown and the center dent accentuates it too much. Steamer coming out tonight...

I still think this hat has some age, the liner seems vintage (pre-plastic)

Sounds like a great learning experience!
I once "blocked" an old woolie on a cabbage. The things we try...

Nice color combo on that one, Red. If it's a fairly low crown as you say, you may also want to switch out the wider ribbon for a mid ribbon.

I had to do that with this modern Premier Whippet that Uhu gave me. The crown was just too low for a wider ribbon. The mid ribbon looks more proportionate to the crown height, I think...

Love that trenchcoat Michael !!!

Thanks Rodolfo. I love that coat too. That bobcat hatband you showed today is pretty wild.

Very well put together today Mike! That Whippet color goes so nice with that stellar coat. It looks so soft and cuddly.
Thanks Red. More laid back color selections than are common with me. Ha ha.

Fabulous ensemble, Michael! I'm still looking for and affordable Whippet...
Thanks Doug. Keep looking for that affordable Whippet. They are out there I know, because mine is evidence of that.

Nice hat and coat! Good look Michael!

Thanks D. Loved your St Paddy's Day tie and pocket square selections.

Thanks to all for the likes,
Michael

Nice collection of lids, as usual. Everyone looks great!

Sorry. Had to wear this one again today. My Silverbelly Resistol Tallboy conversion. I'm kinda warming up to this hat. It's becoming one of my favorites, even if it is a boring Silverbelly color.
Not good lighting to show its true color, I'm afraid.

Really interesting how switching to the mid ribbon makes the crown appear so much taller than it does with the wide ribbon.

Don't. If you're going to do any serious hat work at all, get thee a proper block.

Or at least a cabbage in your size.

Sounds like a great learning experience!

That's not a nice thing to say about your own head.

That does look nice, Terry. Did you post your pouncing, etc. results somewhere? I may have missed them.
