These labels kind of depict the evolution of Nocona labels when they were still in Nocona and the last one showing what they use after the closing of the factory when they merged with Justin in 1999. I think I have these in the correct order, if not, please offer up corrections.

Thanks Bamaboots, interesting to see. I have the two labels I mentioned, as well as a pair of the post merger. IMO there is no comparison, both the white and red labels I have are far better.

Good looking boots, Ddog. Especially like that multi colored stitching. Not sure when they transitioned to the white label but probably 80's. They continued to use the white label (w/o El Paso) after they moved most of their production out of the US. Junk!

Olathe Boot co. These are from the old Kansas factory before they where bought out by Anderson Bean. These where custom made for a gentlemen who did re-enactments of some sort, maybe Calvary or Civil war. I️ owned them for a few months and they got a lot of attention especially from cow punchers of older generations. I️ later sold the boots when I️ was in a bind. I️ sure do miss them and I️ hope who ever owns them now is putting them to good use.

Anyone here know of any custom boot makers besides Wesco that could make a boot similar to the red wing 1178?
Dennis, I had to google that boot and I find it to be a "roper" style that any custom maker could duplicate. Are there reasons you want that particular style boot, because customs, (MTM) will run into a considerable amount of money over what a clone of that boot could be found for. Do you have fitting problems or is that just a boot that you want? I think I saw it's a discontinued model.
Also, I see you are located in AL. Welcome and glad to see another Bama boy here.

Yeah I have very low instep but other wise normal feet so every boot I've ever tried would fit in the toe box but be loose around the instep. I really like that style because of the simple rugged design. You can special order that particular model and I have but sold them shortly afterward because of aforementioned issue.

I would look for the black label. The white label with red lettering is later, into the 80s. Although some of the El Paso made white labels are alright. If it doesn't say El Paso, Texas, I would pass. Black labels from the 70s and earlier, are very good boots.
