I was going to post that jacket. It is absolutely the coolest. What fine condition and quality. I'd rather have that than some other brands.

I would consider that Taubers steerhide. Really late in the game for horsehide with that label.

That's what I was thinking, too. But was Taubers known for at least occasionally using horsehide beyond the '50s into the '60s and beyond?

I might have gathered this impression from eBay listings with later Tauber jackets erroneously called "horsehide," but thought I'd pose the question.

I have seen Taubers ad for Horsehide jackets in mid 60s MC magazine.

Cal leather may have been using HH in the early/mid 60s.

The last Sears jackets to use HH seem to be Certain Fieldmaster sports wear jackets. These appear to be early 60s. The Hercules line sorta ends and the Oakbrook label begins around this time. I don't think I've ever seen a verified HH Oakbrook labeled leather jacket. The Fieldmaster HH jackets were probably made my Appalachian Leather works. I have the same jacket with Appalachian and Fieldmaster labels.

I don't know if I've ever seen a Brooks in HH.

Schott made very few HH jackets that I can see.

Penneys, Wards, catalog sellers don't list HH into the 60s.

I use the start of the 60s as the end of common HH use.

That is my take on it.

Thanks, Terry. Very helpful information.

Would you know when Taubers began using this particular tag? Don't know if the magazine ads you've seen would indicate an approximate time period.

I look at that label as a 70s. The jacket I had with that label also had YKK zippers.

That is pretty much a guess on my part I really can't verify any of that.

The label just has a modern 70's look

Leather industry changed in the 60s. Old styles were gone new styles were added. Weight and quality of the leather changed Etc
