During a cool interlude a few days ago I was able to don an olive Army Guernsey and enjoy a woolly evening!!!
Now that we have entered the 'Dog Days' of late summer (after a searing heatwave), I am longing for crisp mornings and evenings, soft light, autumn leaves - and the chance to put on a WP each day. I miss the ribbed wool and turn-back cuffs and stare longingly at my collection, waiting to be worn again. ... Roll on Autumn, or Fall, if you prefer.

Good afternoon, yes, I was able to wear WPs a few times recently which was nice, but it has got all warm and humid again. Agree, looking forward to the Autumnal weather in a few more weeks. OKW should be issuing their new WW11 WPs soon too.

That's true. They promised to let me know when their new WW2 WPs become available: they will be in olive and black, I'm told.

Yes I think those are the colours. It's a bit chilly this morning, I am wearing my Swedish Navy Blue wool crew neck at the moment.

How very unpatriotic of you. ...! More seriously, although I have worn Breton sweaters occasionally, I have very rarely departed from British military or fisherman's sweaters. This is not for nationalistic reasons, but reasons of design and aesthetics. The British WP is simply unbeatable and has been copied in many places: I am about to acquire a USMC version of the Woolly Pully (which they spell 'Wooly Pully') which I am assured is subtly different in some ways and I wouldn't mind getting the Australian version with camo patches. Where I would draw the line would be a German military sweater although they appear in a lot of Army surplus stores.

I was not being unpatriotic, infact I was given the Swedish Navy Sweater for free, It is very good and makes a change, although I agree with your comments about the British WPs, which are fantastic, unbeatable jerseys. (In fact as this is a typical cold and wet UK bank holiday weekend, I am wearing an Army Crew Neck WP at the moment.)

You should post photos and description of the USMC sweater that you are buying at the moment.

The 'patriotic' comment was 'English irony' (the thing that Jeremy Corbyn claims to know all about!). I am delighted that it is a cool bank holiday weekend and I have been wearing my Dark Grey Mix WP with patches, epps and pen pocket.

The USMC sweater is a gift from a friend. When I get it I shall of course post photos. I had previously been unaware of any differences with our British version.

Although it pains me to admit it, the USMC is sartorially a cut above and beyond the US Army.
The Marines have a more pragmatic bent and had brought back the wooly previously worn as issue wear
long before the Army got around to banking the sweater curve with a black knit.

Have OutDoor Knitwear put their new WW11 WPs on sale yet. I have not heard from them and could not see anything on their website.?

I was wondering the same thing as I’ve heard nothing. They said September but I suspect it’ll be next month now. Maybe I’ll ask them.

As far as WPs are concerned I have been in a Maritime mood over the past few weeks, donning a Navy WP as soon as the weather was cool enough. But this evening it’s Army again!
