Mr. Penney's stores made a tidy little profit off me as a young man. One of our locations had a gentleman in the Men's department who was old school. He guided me through many a suit purchase when I first had to "dress for work." Too bad what has befallen it over recent years; however, it's still doing better than Sears.

Haven't heard any more but they are investigating his death as a homicide. Maybe he finally got what he deserved but as Perry said, at 89 he had a long life in his chosen field.

I've read all 3 books & have this one on DVD. By my comment I'm not endorsing her in the part. I was actually remembering how Jeremy Irons would pronounce "Mrs. French" & tip his hat to her.

As I understand it, it was up to the agency (i.e., local, county, state police, etc.) to decide for themselves. If the person being arrested was known to regularly wear hats, eyeglasses, sunglasses, etc., they were often photographed wearing those items in order to make it easier for witnesses to identify them in the photos.

Anyone know more about this auction of famous hats in 1972 that included Winston Churchill's & Ike Eisenhower's Stetsons, Harry Truman's fedora, & Charlie Chaplin's Derby? What else was in the auction, & where are these hats now?

If I put together a "If you could have dinner with anyone..." list no doubt it would be quite lengthy & likely be subdivided by categories, but he would be on there somewhere. It would be good food, good beer, good tobacco & great conversation!
