Great pics Jake. I'm late to comment but have some knowledge having been to Deadwood & to their graves many times. This may be the 2nd version of Hickok's original grave, or the 1st version of his final resting place after he was moved. Never seen these pics before & can't really tell by the age of Calamity Jane. Dug by his friends Charlie & Steve Utter his original grave only had a wooden plank for a marker. Due to weather & souvenir hunters the wooden plank didn't last many yrs before the gravesite was redone the first time.
The original cemetery located in the foothills where Hickok was laid to rest & a nearby Catholic cemetery were both closed for "urban sprawl" & moved in the 1880's. The new cemetery was located on the mountain top. Records indicate graves of the paupers, the unmarked, & of those with no family were not moved unless the deceased was of some notoriety. Hickok was moved to the new cemetery & this pic could have been from that time. On her own doing Calamity Jane made arrangements to be buried next to Hickok & the gravesite was redone yet again when her time came. Don't recall who it is buried on the other side next to Hickok.
We are still down on the beach. If I stay much longer I'll have to buy some Hawaiian shirts!

The funniest thing about this for me is that I'd swear I know the guy in the middle of the seven people standing (in the wide-brimmed hat and neck bandanna) from somewhere.
