Hold off! It’ll be 65 degrees before you know it. Buy some Buzz Ricksons officers chinos and think about heavy canvass again at labor day.

Another option for Made in USA is Earl’s apparel. Great quality and super reasonably priced. I have their fatigue pant and duck work pant. They aren’t a slim fit but are a terrific value for MIUSA apparel. The retailer sells under a variety of brand names, Gung Ho, Stan's, Earl's Apparel, etc.

Gung Ho camp trouser in brown duck are $58, 10-12oz weight, so that's lighter than you want. Great quality and made in TX.

I've had these since 2013 or so. They don't see a ton of casual wear but they are the only pant I use for work around the house. Great texture!

Stan Ray Double Knee Construction pant, $59:

I've owned these 4 pocket fatigue pant for seven years. The OD Green sateen breaks in to a super soft hand. Probably the most comfortable trouser I own because they have been washed hundreds of times now. They are a very inexpensive alternative to the many designer fatigue pants on the market today by Engineered Garments, Orslow, etc. The big difference is that Stan Ray/Earl's are a standard American work pant fit, similar to Carhartt, while the designers offer a slimmer, modern fit. I find the fatigues a great fit. They were $40 when I bought them in 2012. I bought an extra pair and both are still going strong. My older pair is just starting to lose a few stitches. I've clearly gotten my money's worth on these!

Some other MIUSA brands you might consider are Left Field NYC, Railcar, Freenote Cloth, and Ciano Farmer. Ciano offers up some heavier fabrics, i think up to 30 oz.

I'd go with Ciano myself. Yes, you will wait a few months but the quality is outstanding and the fabric is exactly what OP is looking for.

I have a several pairs of their pants and a couple jackets. I'm a big fan.

Got it...probably have to bite the bullet and pony up...I looked at the duluth pants but I don't care for the strange diamond shaped gusset they put at the crotch...

The whole point of the gusset is to increase room/movement in the crotch without constricting/binding anything up. I'd recommend reserving judgment if you haven't actually tried them on. Honestly, I can't go back to regular jeans after wearing them, and the wrangler shorts I used to wear at my last job would always blow out the crotch with all the squatting and kneeling I did at my last job. The Duluth pants (and shorts) gave me greater range of motion and take the abuse better than anything I've tried before - granted, I haven't thrown down on Carharts or anything like that, but still.

Ultimately it's your call and you have to go with what feels right to you, but as the saying goes - don't knock it 'til you've tried it.

OnI has 14 oz. Duck, try Blue and green. Lot of character. It is the ox version. I have both brown and black. Studio d'artisan makes 23 oz! Order from Japan. Cheaper I also like Duluth. They have a flannel lined version too.

I can't speak for the Duluth design, but I've had both rock climbing and work pants with an extra piece of material in the crotch for added flexibility range. In all cases, I've liked it a lot. It's a smart design and addition. I wouldn't hesitate to buy such designed and styled pants.

I just wanted to be clear about which these were. I believe they are the Gung Ho Camp Trouser. I would like to look further into them. Which link is for these, because I didn't find any photos that looked like them. Thanks. I don't think I quoted correctly. The photos I wanted you to confirm aren't showing up. I'm asking about the three photos of the Gung-Ho brown canvas with the waist adjuster tab and button-down fly.

Also, thanks for posting the link to the 4-pocket fatigues. They appear to be designed after the US Army Korean War era fatigues I owned as a teenager, but with a zipper rather than a button-down fly. They were incredibly soft. I wore those to death. I'll be looking into those as well.

Hmmm Bristol, TN.... Now that's definitely a motorcycle ride!!!! Some of their items look pretty decent!
Wilbur that is almost 500 mile round trip. At least it's all interstate unless you take the scenic route. Then it's almost 600 miles, including at least half the trip on winding mountain roads.

"Then it's almost 600 miles, including at least half the trip on winding mountain roads." !!!!!!!!! Would be the way to go! Then around through Elizabethtown, NC and over through Western North Carolina
for a stop at "Wheels Through Time" to make a weekend of it. Perfect Spring ride! That's a Plan!!!!!

I have a pair of the Earl's camp trouser in "Carhartt brown" with the button tabs & fly, etc. A solid fabric, for sure, but strange thing is the front pockets are so small I cannot even get my hands in. Had to tie a lanyard to my keys. Not sure if that's to appeal to the Japanese fashion market or what, but it rendered the trousers basically useless to me and they are now parked on the donation pile.

I'll second the comments here recommending a gusseted crotch if you'll actually be working in these. On those lines you might wish to check out Arbor Wear - https://arborwear.com/original-tree-climbers-pants#color=220

I once ordered a pair of Ciano Farmer's too. They took MUCH longer even than the long time advertised. A great price though, and seem very well made. Alas, they were TOO heavy for me. The thickest canvas pants I have ever had. Couldn't wear them. I also seem to recall that the rise was very low, or something that put the fit off for me. But hopefully you'll have better luck all around.

I just copy and pasted my Iron heart numbers into the fields. Front and back rise were within 1/2”. Bummer to hear about the wait time though...

Ciano does a great job but my wait was 7 months. Hopefully after moving his shop to Dallas he’ll be able to get his time estimates back in line. I will say that even with that extreme wait I would order again!
