Wow! What an interesting jacket. Never seen one like this with any label. Not from the 40s, could be early 60s. Looks to be in great condition. Too small for me.

This one was posted here earlier and has been in my watch list for a while. Anyone know if that mouton on the collar is a later addition?

Looks original to me. What do you think?

I think it may not be original. The more typical mouton collar is of the snap-on variety that covers the rear collar and top lapels. On the jacket in question, the mouton appears to be permanently sewn to the underside of the collar and both upper and lower lapels. I can't recall seeing that before. The main zipper also stops short of where it would extend to close the lower lapels can keep them secured. The mouton also looks remarkably clean. You and others have seen and handled more vintage jackets than me, so I'm not entirely sure.

EDIT: Just noticed there is a snap on the underside of a lapel on the left side to keep the lapels closed since the zipper doesn't extend higher.

I've owned two leather jackets that have had mouton collars added, so it does happen. I just don't see it here.

It sounds like you're saying that you don't see evidence of later stitching for that mouton. Have you ever seen a jacket with mouton over the entire collar and lapels? It makes for an intriguing jacket, although the mouton and lining limits it to seasonal use.

In hand, the two jackets I owned with additional collars, looked like they had been added. If I had seen those jackets with as detailed pictures I would have seen the work.

Looks to a lot of complicated/expensive work to add. I just don't see it here. Looks to be designed with the short zipper.

Actually, the description says the lining is synthetic, not mouton. If this jacket is from the 1940s, would the lining have been real mouton? Did synthetic linings come along in the late 1960s?

Nylon became very popular use in the 50s. Nylon stitched/Nylon lined was used on Windward labels.

The linings changed from wool/flannel, cotton materials. Watch the change in 50s MC jackets like Buco and Hercules.

Here is a 50s jacket with the Pink mountain label.

The zippers I see do not look like 40s.
