For what it's worth to those still interested in these hangers, I tried ordering 1 and the shipping cost for Canada was going to be 19 GBP (so, double the hanger cost). Sigh.

The pool noodle method works beautifully and they are practically free. The only poor storage technique for a leather jacket would be one of those vacuum sealed bags with a ton of weight on top of it. You might end up with elephant scrotum hide that way.

You mean that's not the most precious kind of "leather" jacket out there? Oh man, I gotta cancel that order...

To me this whole "wrong hanger thing" is just a way to sell fancy hangers.
I have seen Aero jackets straight out of the box showing these creases on the wearer.
To me it is a combination of pattern design and bad sizing. Aeros have a neck/shoulder design that puts a lot of the weight of the jacket on the neck of the wearer and the way the lapels fall creates these lines. This is worst when the jacket is oversized.

You can see them here on this jacket, they formed on me from wear, not on a hanger:

Now regarding their coat hangers, i bit when they first came out, ordered 15 and sent all of them back for a refund.
IMO they hang weirdly and i don't like what they do to the shoulders of jackets, i could see them creating deformed shoulders over time.

Here is a Bootlegger on a regular "wrong" hanger:

And the same jacket on an Aero hanger:

I am no expert, but to me both jackets look like they hang better on the "wrong" hanger, and although i can see how you wouldn't get creases in the front with the Aero hanger, i don't think it is safe long term for the shoulders.

I also am convinced that if you are the "wrong shape" for your jacket, just wearing it is going to create these exact same lines even if you use an Aero hanger.

Here is the wrong hanger, £2.99 a piece if you buy 10:

Amen.

Here is a picture of my brand new Bootlegger worn for maybe one hour, which at the point this picture was taken had not spent a single moment at any hanger whatsoever:

You can already see these folds starting to evolve from where shoulder/collar area towards the chest. Today, they are much more pronounced and again, this was due to wear because mine and I dare to say any human shoulders are sloped to some extent and not as square as the Aero hangers. Maybe the Aero hangers slow down the process but you'll get these folds either way. It's a pattern thing.

Those Aero hangers look awkward. They are basically straight, how can that be better than a standard sloped hanger that imitates the natural shoulders of a human body?

Thanks @Carlos840, great post. Gotta admit, those jackets do look damn weird on the Aero hangers!

This is what I love about dedicated, online discussion boards: hearing from people who care about the topic, have tons of experience and an informed opinion, and (hopefully) aren't trying to sell you anything.

Seems to my uneducated eye that the inner leather backing of the chest pockets is somewhat of a focal point for all of this crease business. I have an old Sears steerhide jacket with a big vertical crease (fold, really), that passes right along where the edge of the inner leather pocket facing is. I'd wager the crease is there largely because the front panel runs into that leather backing, causing a crease with wear.

@Carlos840 , while I normally don't pay much attention to hangers, the way the shoulders breaks on the photos of the Aero hangers is one thing I actually am making sure to avoid because I've had one cheap that spent a lot of time on a hanger that produced a similar effect and the leather at the shoulders actually did deform.

I fully agree with that, i have a couple jackets with only one breast pocket and they all have it more on the side with the pocket.
Here is my ELMC for example:

So, @Monitor, you're saying you'd specifically avoid the Aero hangers? God this is confusing! :p Because they don't have the flared ends, or because of the angle, or something else??

Thurston Bros will send me a hanger for 30 USD including shipping. I'm willing, but now I have no idea what to do. For the love of all the leather that's holy, someone tell me what to do!! :D

Get yourself some pool noodles and a suit jacket hanger and enjoy a good nights sleep!
