See what this place has done to me!
I found a picture of you in your Thedi 2 years ago. I traced it back to TFL. 11 jackets and two pair of boots later my wife would like to have a word with you.

i didnt really take digital photos 10 years ago. I’ve been into nice ish clothes since hs. 10 years ago when the kids were wee there was a disappointing amount of comfort wear thankfully largely undocumented.

Actually started with a Schott in 2010, it was awful as I soon came to realize, only one pic of me in it before I got the hang of the selfie

I quickly moved on to a Highwayman, which I still have today

And here I am this week, feeling and imo looking much better thanks to the Lounge

Love this thread!

2012: Finally saving up enough money for an Aero HWM and being 1000% sure it would be the last jacket I'd ever buy. Also completely certain I'd never put on a textile jacket ever again.

2019: Feeling like a complete idiot for ever buying a single stupid leather jacket, next to this $15 Storm Rider (that's two sizes too large)...

Excuse the selfies.

Giving it some thought...What’s most interesting to me is how I’ve actually come (somewhat) full circle, specifically with cross zips. I went from Vanson>Aero>many Aero>LW>4 LW>back to Aero>many Aero>Vanson. Some Bates and others sprinkled in along the way. But full stop back at Vanson. The things I thought I was “improving” upon eventually became the things I missed most in the humble Vanson.
Interesting trajectory. I’m already starting to appreciate time-tested Vansons as I make my way through trying out new (to me) brands.

Yeah - Having also owned Vanson, I can't see that the other makers provide much improvement on them and yet they charge a lot more. If I lived in the states I'd probably only have Vanson, and maybe a Goodwear. There may be beautifully made retro inspired alternatives out there but I haven't seen any I would buy at any price. My tastes are more conservative.
