That Statesman is a great jacket. I want one.
I just don't need one.
Yet.
The lines between want and need are so often blurred

I find that, without due diligence, that can happen with lots of things. Jackets, Laphroaig and dark tobacco present particular problems in this regard, although I've really cut down on the jackets. The lines between want and need are so often blurred![]()
Yes- I'd get one if I had two fewer jackets and wasn't working my **** off to get back to Hong Kong (where a cafe racer or a goat hide HB is all you'll ever need). If I were to go back to Seoul, though. Hmmmm.I really dig that one too. It would fill the void for a shawl collar that the Thedi just could not fill for me. Maybe someday I'll grab one.

The Statesman is the only one of the SB patterns that I like, though- the collars on the others are generally wrong to my eye and designs like the Treasure Hunter or whatever are effortlessly superseded by Aero's Maxwell, although it's strokes for folks.
I'm fairly sure they do steer hide and a range of other options. It's the only one I like, but I like it a lot.It is the only Simmons Built I like also. I think I'd buy one for sure if it had underarm gussets and I am unfamiliar with their leathers except CXL which I do not like at all. The Canadian dollar to Pound Sterling exchange rate is terrible so the chances of me buying one soon is not good. $$$$$ If I can't find that Colimbo Stockman's jacket when I visit Japan next month I may consider the Statesman.
To my eye the top hand warmers could be lowered a couple inches also but that is nitpicking.

John Lofgren Monkey Boots Shinki Horsebuttt - $1,136 The classic monkey boot silhouette in an incredibly rich Shinki russet horse leather.
Grant Stone Diesel Boot Dark Olive Chromexcel - $395 Goodyear welted, Horween Chromexcel, classic good looks.
Schott 568 Vandals Jacket - $1,250 The classic Perfecto motorcycle jacket, in a very special limited-edition Schott double rider style. Just leaving these here
I am fractionally less well-disposed to humanity right now.
Can the collar be snapped up?
The Canuck is a thing of beauty, but I'd only buy one if I owned only one other leather jacket (and even then, maybe). That price isn't in my range- much as I think it's an amazing item, it'd be like paying 20 quid for a burger (I like burgers, but how different can they be?).I like it a lot too.
Even with the poor exchange rate, it is still half the price of a Himel Canuck.
