I wonder what that leather is.
On their webpage Aero only offer CX Steer as an option, this clearly isn't CXL.
I do't think it is Connolly either, it looks too even for that.
The seller says he bought it "many years ago" but doesn't remember if it is 5, 10 or 20 years...

Wow! I know makers do reproductions of these jackets. Do they use this very authentic looking Monarch label? The zipper looks to be old too. I thinking this is an original, but I've been wrong before. I may have to write Dave and ask him his opinion.

What are the materials in the originals?

How much do the reproductions cost?

Don't many of the originals suffer from damage/rot?

I had an original "bomber" jacket with trousers, but it just fell apart from rot. It was a different model I think.

This jacket looks to be in a very good condition; better than the two HD Sportster 42's I have. Label looks crisp. Sleeve cuffs wear should tell a story; interested Loungers should ask for pics. If it can be sniped at $295 that would be IMO a good deal. BIN is pretty much market price.

If that one really is an original - that looks abs fantastic then, have never seen any original sheepskin from 40s in such nice looking condition.

Curious. What makes you think that?
- The first thing I notice is the zipper puller: wire-shape like Conmar during 50s/60s.
- If you see lots of Cals from different periods, you can see stitching differences between them. As I see in this particular jacket, the distance from the edge of the lapel to the stitching makes a thinner band than Cals from 70s, which everything is wider.
- The snaps position is another detail you can look at: lapels snaps, collar mount snaps...
- This seller tells in description that there is one ‘original use’ flaw, a missing belt loop... not missed, is ripped but on the belt, next to the buckle.
- This jacket could have been worn (by period) by James Dean in "Rebel Without a Cause".
