Agree, the prices are idiotic. I guess it's down to personal values. No one here is a male model so that comment goes without saying. I wish there were alternatives to jeans as the look doesn't appeal to me all that much over the age of 30. Problem is I hate chinos - an awkward, accountant at a weekend barbecue look.

Unbranded brand makes a great 12oz “chino”. More like jeans in terms of cut. I have pairs that are over 5 years old that I just throw in the washer with rit dye every 6 months or so. Not expensive. Great value x longevity. I will say too, I also have my first pair of IH jeans that are seven years old and still strong. I’ve donated and thrown out an equivalent price wise of Levi’s

They're pricey for sure but I find IH's to be a great starting & reference point in terms of fit, look and generally the kind of style to look for. There are many cheaper alternatives of course and you can find some really cool jeans for much less $ - even though I personally still believe the IH's are worth it as they truly are beautiful and well made jeans. As for what you usually pay for the jeans... Well, I was strongly opposed to buying pricey jeans when I got here and one of the things I am most grateful for to the people of TFL is that they changed my mind on that one. I'm never ever going back to cheap jeans. It's true what they say about getting what you pay for.

As for the modeling days being over, man, the reason I'm telling you this 'cause you're rn pretty much the most active exactly in modeling on the forum and all I'm saying, you have some really great jackets and many jeans that don't really suit you. You can not give a damn and that's cool or you can get some $150 Nudies or some such and look better. For a leather jacket and jeans look, jeans are important.

As high as IH prices are, I don't think they're any more idiotic than what we're paying for a Himel or a LW or indeed, Aero or Schott. These prices are there to make sure you're getting quality, durability and just as importantly, a guarantee that you'll look good. It's no different with IH's. Paying $400 for IH's is going to get you some of the best jeans in the world, in both terms of cut and material. I'll agree with you that I too am having trouble paying that much money for jeans but once I decided to do something about my jeans, the alternative suddenly disappeared from the equation. I'm not going back to **** jeans ever again. Not something I ought to be doing to myself.

And again, as far as modeling goes, sorry to say that but posting pics of what you're wearing online makes you a model. Not a runway supermodel but a model none the less. So we model. A lot. And there are a lot of male models here. People discuss their looks, write blogs, etc. Cosplaying as 50's, how TFL started is modeling. That's why TFL is brilliant.

Here, Ship John sells some great fitting denims for $200. I really love these.

Some time ago in another thread I tried to explain or understand why there are people who spend thousands of dollars on leather jackets and in return wear cheap jeans and t-shirts. I think the whole thing is a lack of sence for attitude or style. At the time, some people felt ****ed off because I also said that it was a "class thing". Of course it is also an ethical thing and things that are ethically made are not cheap. IH may not be the best example in terms of price, but there are good alternatives.

@Monitor I think there are people who have the sense for it and others don't ... that's not bad either ...

while I don't have many raw jeans only 3, but indonesian jeans are quite affordable and well made too, not that far from where you live, mostly sub $200, as long as you are not too tall or long legged since probably the inseam is maxed at 34" (some goes to 36") before soak/ shrinkage

list are not by my preferences, and I have not tried some of those brands myself, I'm not promoting them just saying, copy paste from my own internet bookmark.

I personally think I'm done with denim pants, I now wear a value equivalent to $12 corduroy pants mtm/mto and happy with them, 4 colors hanging in rotation (olive brown, caramel, dark green, and dark beige), I washed 2 of my denim last week and roll them neatly out of rotation.

I would buy them if I had a shop where I could try on different models and sizes. For me online it's too risky for the price.
And isn't every day you leave the house a modelling day? I am too vain not to care about clothes.

As for jacket prices , my most expensive jacket purchase has been $500 USD delivered cost to Perth Australia.

That incudes one NEW Schott and 2 NEW Simmons Bilt. Lucky maybe !

The vast % of my collection were way under that ceiling price.

IH is just example of a brand of quality jeans for motorcyclist, readily available stay true with their own staple series of fits easy to replicate your past experience of old jeans with a new replacement, understanding westerners bodyshape, long lasting, not too denim head oriented, priced for 1st world buyers

most other japanese brands are scarcer limited releases, weirder fabrics with unknown characteristic with every release, probably even tweaked fit that look slightly different from release to release, it would be different experience everytime, some has details you wouldn't care, like easily rusting buttons, or mixed buttons, quickly fraying arcuate on the pocket, legs twisting like crazy, some quick fading, probably that's their goal too, more aimed at denimhead who seek these things as either adding to their collection or different experience for their long wearing journey.

I have no pants budget for japanese jeans even more now with new import tax system, so I stay with local makers from my country, even these local brands have different focuses, some releasing staple stuff over and over ala IH geared toward special activities/ hobby, some other always releasing something different in limited quantity, and some borderline cosplaying.

I used to be one of those people even though it was one of the best advice I got on TFL.
I recall getting my first Aero I think it was and someone, could've been @dudewuttheheck if my memory serves me, mentioned I should now get a better pair of jeans 'cause the ones I wore are horrible and I should kill myself. He didn't say it that way of course but it's what I heard. And I had a pair I was particularly proud of on the photo, in fact.

So I began noticing jeans and realized pants can make more difference than a jacket. And it's true. You can wear anything on a perfect pair of jeans and you'll still look good while for some strange reason, the opposite just doesn't really work that way. Wear a good leather jacket on an ill fitting jeans and somehow, the jacket disappears.

Well, in any case, I had two IH's and sold them because I lost weight and they keep good value. Eventually I thrifted a Norse Project 17oz's for $5 and these are my best & favorite jeans. I worry right now what am I going to do once I wear them out and I know I'm just going to have to spend big money on IH's or something similar because I'm not going back to ****py jeans AND I know for a fact that the IH will deliver what I want. I've no doubt in my mind that the $400 777's will be perfect for me and that's gotta be worth something.

Projects were 180 Euros originally and they don't make 'em anymore. Super cheap, considering what I got form them.

I'm not a fan of claiming superiority of certain clothes or brands over others. There is many factors by which we choose what we wear and depending on which of these factors/qualities you value higher, you choose different brands and types of clothing. Indestructible 250 Dollar IH jeans are not better than 30 Dollar Levis Jeans, they are made to cater to different people with different priorities and focus on different qualities, in this exemplary case workmanship and longevity vs being affordable, easily replacable and easily accessable. It's the Himel Shinki jacket vs 400 Dollar goatskin jacket-debate all over again. None is better than the other, they are for different people caring for different qualities in the jacket they are wearing. Some folks like their horsehide jacket to look 50 years old after six months of wear, others prefer their jacket to look pristine for long and would be freaked out about a 2000 dollar jacket showing that much wear after that short period of time.

Respect other peoples taste and valuation of certain qualities in the stuff they wear, wear what you like, let others wear what they like, live and let live. Judging people for what they wear rather than respect their call on what they care for in a product is small-minded and philistine.

Mr. Raja sheepskin jacket (lol yeah, that's actually the brand name even tho it's made in Italy but it's got that home made custom vibe and it's genuinely is a brilliant jacket) x Aero 60's trousers x Harness boots.

So Aero makes a mean jacket but they make incredible leather trousers. Just got home from a pub, these are extremely comfortable despite being 11 lbs of CXL, they fit great, they're fun to wear and they're warm. Most important of all, I wasn't bored. And to think I actually paid more for IH denim jeans when I coulda had these all along but no, I was too chicken sh1t to wear what I wanted to wear.

Hmm yeah i thought for a while raised beltloop, selvedge, or continuous selvedge fly, or chainstitch meant something.... but i wake up now, silhouette is the key to victory with pants
To me basically there are only 3 types silhouette jeans would be, boxy straight that hide your knee ( i want this on double knee workpants style and cargo pants), waisted on the knee before appear wider again (i want this on most jeans), carrot type that keep on tapering toward ankle (i hate this look)
Just waist, hip, rise, thigh, knee,opening and inseam. Once I write them down for 2 styles I want, and remember minimum ankle opening I hate, I can win with any local mto service can replicate the jeans look on any fabrics to any pricepoint im willing to pay.

Yes, the prices are idiotic (not the jeans or the people) I paid an idiotic $1500 for an Aero half-belt, so I know what I'm talking about and I have to say, it is not as satisfying as my $20 thrift shop leather jacket. What you need to remember is people have different views about clothing, and it is perfectly ok for a little voice like mine to not be worshipful of IJ jeans or whatever it is. I think you'll note that I have never been abusive to anyone and I think this site is big enough to deal with a member who has a different view on the price of things.

I think you argue your case well there, Monitor. I still can't imagine paying more than $80 for a pair of jeans but I get your perspective (and they look great) as you clearly get mine. It's a big world and the Fedora Lounge can deal with differences in values.
