"exit jacket"

Hi guys,

I've been wondering, did anyone of you ever reach the point where you said "that's gonna be my last jacket" and sticked to it?
When I ordered my first jacket I thought I'd finally have a jacket that would please all my needs since no stock or designer jacket ever felt like the one. Now I have a five "the one" jackets and from reading the posts here I think that's quite common. So the "exit jacket" seems to be the start of an addiction.

Did anyone of you guys find the "exit jacket" and what makes you love it all about the others?
I'm looking forward to your stories and pictures of your jackets!

Oh boy, this should be interesting...
I actually have one in mind, done my thorough research, and have been in the waiting cue at GW. I’m not in a hurry for it, but I’d like a button-up, and I want John to make it for me since it is a historic jacket and GW made my first and only new/ custom jacket. I guess that’s my end-game. Until then, I’m cycling through interesting jacket finds on the second-hand market. For the last year, I’ve been trying out racer styles.

For me the “exit” Jacket was my FW Sunset, although I bought two Thedi Leathers jackets afterwards, lol. However this jacket was the turning point for me after many, many Jackets ;)

It's probably because of my age that I like this Shinki Deerskin so much. It has structure and is super comfortable to wear. The cut of the jacket, the cross zip front and the back are exactly what I've always been looking for...

I try to imagine what if I can wish to jacket god for a new jacket for free... I really desire nothing
i probably just waiting for a cross zip in the long run... but not in hurry since cross zip collar and lapel is not really my style, other than that I'm happy and content with all I have and just concentrating on wearing and documenting new characters, grains, "patina" and just being here.

My “exit” jacket is the one (maybe two or three lol) that I know I won’t ever sell. My LW Trojan hits pretty much every mark for me. But I will keep trying new things. I’ll keep them, I’ll sell them, but only a couple will have to be pried out of my cold, dead hands.

This is a gorgeous jacket and worthy...If I were into this style, I would want one too. My Ralphs-Pugh is the end of the cross-zip road for me :).

In the five years that I’ve been hanging out here I have actually seen a couple people achieve this goal. They joined the forum, asked their questions, then posted progress on the new jacket they had ordered, and finally posted some fit photos once the jacket arrived. After that they were never heard from or seen again. I am assuming that is because they had succeeded in finding “the one” and afterwards they had no need nor interest to worry about other jackets.
For those of us who are regular posters here though I think the exit jacket may never come. And as a few others have said already I think that’s just fine. I wasn’t quite up to 10 jackets before I realized that I was fooling myself about finding “the one”. That realization was somewhat liberating to me because I stopped putting such emphasis and high expectation on new every new jacket order, after all it’s just another jacket...

For me personally, it will be a sad day if I ever achieve an exit jacket. I can’t even begin to imagine what that would possibly be, but it would signify I’ve lost interest in the hobby.

See, I don't think that can happen. 'cause that'd mean you've lost interest in yourself. As long as I don't decide I wanna look like a slob, I'll enjoy this hobby. Be it jackets, pants or shirts.

My exit jacket was/is a nice well-worn original Roughwear A-2 jacket. I was done.
.............one day I was curious to see what Five Star Leather was up too, looked on their FB page and saw some awesome looking hide so i thought, well $250 is pretty reasonable for one more jacket. So my Five Star A-1 is my exit jacket ........... unless I see an amazing deal or something. Even deals, I have passed on some great offers that a few years ago I would have snapped up.

Yeah, this, too. It's a nice place to hang out. I haven't been buying many jackets at all lately and I'm still here. Even lost my title in the process.
I went into your profile page to see what I could do. While I can edit just about everything else in there, I didn't see a way to give it back to you. I will continue to fool with it. If you just disappear, you will know I screwed up.

Perhaps it will reappear as suddenly as it disappeared.
