Finds and Deals - Leather Jacket Edition

I called Vanson this week. Can’t recall the name of the guy I spoke to. Gave him my dimensions and he sized me 44 for a C2, and 42 for an E.
I’ve got a Vanson Oxford (9D) in a 42 and it’s a great fit. P2P of 23.5.
I like both C2 and E, and could go either way. I think the C2 looks a bit better off the bike, at least in pics I’ve seen, only because it lacks the side cinches.
Is the collar bigger in the E?
The Chopper is so nice, but I didn’t want a Nero collar for this jacket.

The sizes he gave you make sense given the ease numbers they use for each jacket (size 42: C is 5” / E is 6.5”). Their ease measurements are pretty accurate.

The collars/lapels look about the same. I’ve never handled a C. I agree, the C is more versatile off the bike, though I putter about on foot with side laces all the time. On the bike the side laces can be helpful, but you know that.

Don’t forget to add the furry collar.

Ah right I forgot, the beaver on the collar isn’t available on the C2. That might make my decision for me. I’ll call Vanson again in the morning to confirm a couple things.

Do you know if Vanson offers more than one color for their collars? I might get something for my CHP2, but I think brown on black would look better than black on black. The only stock option they have seems to be black shearling though.

Two of my Vanson have black mouton. The only Vanson I’ve seen around here without a black fur collar is @ton312, who had a blonde collar on one of his Es. No idea if Vanson made it.

Here are two of my Cals- one with brown mouton and the other black. I like both. Brown is cool though. I’d also consider blonde and gray is awesome.

This Cal has a grayish shearling but I'm guessing maybe it was brown at firstt

The brown I'm thinking of is not really a standard brown. It's more reddish brown. Something like this: (this is the shearling on my Cal's cuffs). Similar to the pop you get with a blonde collar, but I think it would be a bit more versatile. Buying more things for individual jackets is a tempting loophole to the "1 in, 1 out" rule.

This is an old mouton fur coat I've been following. It is a bit less red than this photo, though. I've considered buying it just for the shearling and to give it to someone to use for piecing together a collar.

Smart idea. You’ll have mouton for countless jackets. That reddish hue is beautiful.

I like how Cal’s mouton collars are thicker and larger than most. More efficient and look darn cool.

Here are perhaps better pics of the Cals.

Yeah the one on @Jin431 which used to be mine ha.....it’s a really interesting collar. As he said and as I put on my sale page there’s really no way to tell if it used to be brown or black...or some variation of grey. But whatever the sun did to it, it’s become a cool combination of all 3 that you can’t really describe, only look at and say I don’t know what color that is...but it’s cool! Ha

Yeah, forgot to mention the size. Your collars and @Jin431's on his Cal look great. They're huge, and the shearling looks pretty dense anyway.
