A couple of hats from the outlet in Garland. That place has been very busy the last two times I was there. Mostly a cowboy hat crowd but I scored a couple of fedoras. A Stratoliner in natural and a Dobbs Rosebud in cognac (looks like milan wheat) in hemp straw. Cannot find anything on a hemp Rosebud online.

I think all the Rosebuds I’ve seen have been Florentine Milan.

Nice hats. I’m going to go by the outlet one of these days.

Super looking Lords hat, Stefan. Great Stetson box, too.

A new one added to the fold. The Holborn hat. Lords hat in black, size 58 with the brim at 5,5cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. As it came in a rather fetching Stetson hat box, I thought it was American made at first, but it's probably English. Holborn being the legal centre of London the style fits. Liner and textured sweatband suggest an early hat, likely late thirties. Could be forties as well though.

This is the Stetson box it came with (and is part of the reason I bought it).

Another great catch, Stefan. It's one of those hats that's just as good on the outside as the inside. Really cool lettering on the sweat band, crown patch, and label. Extra bonus that its your size. Congrats

Another pickup from this week.
Fléchet 7X foulard fedora in black. Size 56, with the raw edge brim at 6cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. This is an early Fléchet. The crown patch is embroidered and still has the "B. Fléchet" name. The sweatband has a twenties/thirties art deco styling to it, which is what sold it to me (didn't know the size when I bought it; French sellers usually don't answer questions very well - if at all).

Modern Borsalino “Beaver” in 7 1/8 US. Solid black with a 2 1/2” raw edge brim and a tapered open crown height of approximately 5 1/4 inches. The felt is dense and malleable and the hat come with a nice original/matching box. A previous owner has glued two Statue of Liberty medals to both ends of the bow.

Mystery Hat #1
A874BF4B-8031-4DED-AEF9-13A054C289C3.jpeg

The Mallory Ten - Premier Quality
Taupe to Very Light Milk Chocolate felt
5 3/4 Crown open - 5 1/4 as shaped
1 3/4 Burgundy grosgrain ribbon
2 3/4 brim with half inch rose gold grosgrain binding

I should have memorialized my guess for this mystery hat from a few weeks back that finally arrived today with its travel partner. Based on the sellers only photo of the top... I was convinced Mallory. As it seemed to echo the styling of the dark brown Mallory “whippet clone” that arrived a couple weeks ago. It is in fact The Mallory Ten and the styling may take from Whippets cues... but this is a bit bigger hat at a 2 3/4 brim. The color is sort of taupe to very light chocolate milk with soft thin felt. A good sized crown at 5 3/4. The ribbon offsets with a dark burgundy which is hard to capture correctly in the photos and a half inch contrasting rose gold brim binding. The 1817 logo date indicates post 1946 Stetson takeover... and the OPS tag narrows it as 1951 to 53 with a $10 selling price putting right in the Whippet market. Heavy brushing cleaned it up very well. But it might could use some work with a damp rag... and possibly some light sanding to remove the subtle foxing on the felt. But all and all quite a hat!

That’s fantastic Joe. Love the color combo and the 2 3/4” brim. Awesome.

Anton Peschel Neutitschein, measures 57 cm possibly late 1930s early 1940s. There is no mention of APN but it's very similar in construction to the Anton Peschel Neutitschein, Peschel "Kristall" from the same find. The darker Brown Close Cropped Velour is really fantastic easily dry creases and is in very good condition.

I saw this Stetson 3X just a couple of hours after it was posted and it was so unique, HAS kicked in hard and Brent @deadlyhandsome (TFL Enabler of the Year, 2018 and 2019) agreed to let me add it to my little collection. The felt quality is very consistent with the average 3X model, this one has a 5 3/4+ open crown and a 2 5/8 raw edge brim with a flange that gives it a nice brim curl all the way around. It came with the traditional cattleman's crease but, as usual, the side dents rubbed against my head. With the natural brim curl, I steamed out the side dents to give it more of a homburg look. This one is unlined, so perhaps it will wear a little longer in the spring and earlier in the fall. Someone may know the exact color, but if I were in charge of the color factory, I'd call it Texas Sage. It is a sand/buff color with a green tint very much like the color of the leaves of the Texas sage plants grown in the state. The 3/4 Hunter green ribbon helps pull out the green of the felt. I did not want to push the limits of the sweatband, so I did not get a picture, but it has a slender, rectangular reorder tag with handwritten information. It looks like a 721 or 723 block. Once upon a time the hat had a wind trolley but a previous owner snipped it off, leaving a short bit of cord hanging under the ribbon. Oh well! Hunter 1.jpg Hunter 2.jpg Hunter 3.jpg Hunter 4.jpg Hunter 5.jpg

I like this one a lot already and I know it will be getting a lot of wear.

Yet another nice find, Steve. The dark brown colour really highlights the velour finish.
