Barney Mason had been a member of a loose knit cattle rustling gang consisting of Billy the Kid, Rudabaugh, & Billy Wilson, when he met & became fast friends with Garrett. Mason eventually agreed to become a gang informant to Garrett.

Pic was likely taken in 1880 with Mason working as a deputy to Garrett when the 3 gang members were being moved from the jail in Las Vegas, NM to Santa Fe, NM under fear of vigilante justice. That may explain why Rudabaugh was allowed to have a *** unless it is merely a prop for the pic. No known pic of Billy Wilson is known to exist.

It's amazing what you come across when doing a search. For what seems like ages I have been looking out for a pair of art deco shoes. These popped up on some page that was nothing to do with shoes.

Then, just below the photo of those shoes, I saw this wonderful picture.

It's thirty four years since we said farewell to Fred, yet it's as though he's still around. We have a TV channel called: Talking Pictures, it regularly shows reruns from yesteryear, last week it was the turn of, The Towering Inferno. Along with an alumni of famous actors in that movie was one, Fred Astaire.
In The Towering Inferno he danced with Jennifer Jones and received his only Academy Award nomination, in the category of Best Supporting Actor.
