It does indeed, but I kind of like it! That’s definitely not a Cal, at least I don’t think it is. I love the collar too. It’s very well done. Cal collars often look like free hand drawings of a straight line. Same with my Al’s. This one looks very well cut.

Preferring army-style epaulets on diagonal zippered jackets as well, I've done my homework on the matter and believe me, it's near impossible to find to find an affordable piece with such a feature. It's difficult enough to find one for any amount of money if CHP isn't your game! In addition to the makers you've listed, there's Sportclad of course but finding one cheap is not an easy task.
A beater is an inexpensive, sturdy item that is used daily until it fails, rather than kept carefully to preserve it for a longer time. Like shoes that you wear to work and destroy in a year compared to a nice pair that you keep for special occasions.
