Actually I was a fan of it the whole time. Im still a fan of it. I hate the fact that it doesnt fit as well as i initially thought it did. I only started considering selling it after people pointed out the deeper flaws with the fit on here. I had absolutely no intention of selling it initially, but ny own photo comparisons, and the points made on this thread lead to the decision.

You're the one doing the misleading now and should probably just stop your accusatory speculation.
Not interested in an argument. You spent page after page defending a jacket and then decided to sell it, one post after more praise for it. And then got upset and argued it wasn't in fact a sudden change of heart. That all speaks for itself.

Lol I still love the jacket dude. You're interested in just being a pest. Making decisions like this is confusing. I'm very torn with this jacket so you coming in like this doesn't help.

Your goal is just to make me look bad so pretending to play the victim by saying you don't want an argument is comical.

I fully admit that I've flip flopped here, but I don't think it's weird that I've made a re-evaluation based on what people said in this thread.

Plus, I still don't think it fits terribly. But I think it's worth exploring trying to sell it. Just because I'm selling it doesn't mean that I don't love it.

I've been polite to you over the years, even when you've been an arse to the posters here, and witnessed your various bust ups over minor differences.

As said, the early Bucos are truly grail level. A lot of people have mistaken Bloodeagle's J-22 for a repro not only because of condition but the workmanship as well. French seam sleeves and back. You don't get those in the mass produced J-22 and J-24. Bloodeagle's one is closer in terms of construction to the JH-1, the first Buco. If only you can find one in that condition too.

That's fine, but I still find it sad that there are people who can't appreciate an immaculate J-24 for what it is.

You're not being polite now. You just really seem to want to make me look bad or feel bad. What's the point of making your initial post? What's the point of bringing up my past interactions?

You're just trying to make me look bad. Straight up. That makes you the jerk here.

Look bad or feel bad? Because I said you had a change of heart? How is that insulting or demeaning or negative? Everyone has changes of heart about things all the time.

I admitted I had a change of heart. I'm just saying I don't feel that it was super sudden. I could be wrong. It just didn't feel that way to me.

Trust me when I say I've been thinking about this jacket way too much lately which is partly why I'm putting it up for sale

To his credit, I don't think @Rich22 was making anything other than a toss-away remark, one that, from this impartial third party, didn't appear to be ill-intentioned. It also goes without mention that @dudewuttheheck has contributed a great deal to this forum. Let's let bygones be bygones!

For the record, I think you LaBrea is the t*ts, @dudewuttheheck, even if the fit isn't ideal.

It genuinely wasn't ill intentioned, and I was surprised it was taken that way.

Anyway, I also liked the look of that jacket, and even the shoulders being a bit too big was pretty minor. I'd say keep it.

I may have misread your post. I was making a point about some brands' decline over the years. That goes for Hercules D pocket too. The 40s Hercules D pocket are better constructed than the 50s.

I think we've all been there. I've been there numerous times. Loving a jacket so much that I intentionally or unintentionally ignored the imperfections. Over time I've learned that it's best to face the reality and that it's better to do so sooner than later. Because a flawed jacket will never become perfect and moving it on will be inevitably.

So instead of questioning a jacket every time you wear it, better make room for one that makes you feel like a million bucks.

^^ to be clear, the above comment is just a general remark. I'm definitely not telling you what to do @dudewuttheheck, :)

I re-read the posts in this thread. I was clearly out-of-line. I misinterpreted @ton312 's posts and saw things that were not there. I apologize to @ton312 for my inappropriate comments. I also apologize to @dudewuttheheck for wreaking havoc on his thread. Congrats on your great looking Vanson. Finally, apologies to the community for the distraction.

I was asked to “get the f**k out” and, while I believe the statement was undeserved and inappropriate, others clearly share the sentiment as evidenced by the numerous affirmations. I have said some stupid sh*t on TFL, but I don’t think I have ever been so overtly hateful to anyone here. I can be imbecilic and argumentative, but I am not cruel. I must concede that having someone I respect direct me to “GTFO” stung – it left a mark. The affirmations from other members were also noteworthy.

I have thoroughly enjoyed participating in this wonderful community for the past eight years and I am sincerely grateful to everyone who offered their knowledge, wisdom, and friendship during that time. That said, I have plainly worn out my welcome. Its time for me to move on . . . maybe temporarily, maybe permanently . . . we’ll see.

During the next couple of weeks, I plan to sell several jackets, including an RMC Steinbeck, Good Wear Imperial, and FCL Tyler – maybe more. Feel free to PM me if you are interested. Thereafter, I will sign-off and GTFO.

It's been a hell-of-a-ride. Best wishes to everyone.
Brothers fight. Then they move on. Additionally ton312 is from Chicago, we use GTFO like pass the salt. I’d direct it at anyone but my mother.

If I read your intentions wrong I'm very sorry. That's not your fault. I'm very bad at reading tone on the internet so my bad there. Hope we're cool :)

I don't mind having some suggestion on what to do. I listened to some of the points that were well made in this thread. When I have the Vanson and the Bodie that are as short as I want, it makes me want to have more jackets like them.
We're cool- thanks for the message. For my part, sorry for my side of our silly disagreement.
I appreciate that very much.

This has been a good thread for disagreements ;) I'll second that GTFO is not a bad thing for someone from Chicago to say, judging by my two colleagues from there- it's usually said with zero malice.

Can we all agree posting in this thread on a Friday just isn’t a good idea? LOL. @dudewuttheheck this jacket is not unobtainable should you want it back. I have bought, sold, bought back and sold again more times than I care to count.

I think you are on to something with your fits. The Bodie and the Vanson are perfect. Pursue similar and relax your desire for perfection in construction while continuing your pursuit of perfection in fit. You will be happier and look better in your gear.

That's sort of what I'm doing. I still care about the quality, but I have to bend on some things in order to get proper fitting garments. I do believe that the whole outfit matters more than just the individual items. I may just get another Bodie in black just because of how well it fits.

Agreed and if you apply this same mentality to jackets (I.e, stitching, etc within reason) and look at the whole of the jacket there is a much higher probability to yield success.

Personally, I find some of the minutiae or microscopic examination of trivial details starts to degrade the point of a leather jacket. This is merely my opinion of course but with all these things being inspired by things that came from the past…when all the small and largely unimportant details become the central focus, all authenticity is lost. This is not an excuse for hack work. Hack work is hack work.

I suppose this is ultimately my problem with Japanese made (and other repro makers as well) M/C jackets. They look to me like display case items, rather than the tools they were intended to be. I will not argue they are beautiful. Of course they are, but they are also too elegant. In my opinion this level of elegance degrades the jackets authenticity.

When I look at other Japanese repro’s, like a Halfbelt, I do not have the same feeling. The elegance plays in favor of the design and purpose, not against it like the m/c patterns. Long rant! Either way I think you’ve stepped through a door with the Vanson (and the Bodie for that matter) and are on the right track.
