Another Wow!! I will be watching from the sidelines. Any guess on final $? I don't know.

I thougt about how much I would be willing pay if it were my size. I would go as high as $1750. But I think this jacket will go for more tbh.

Yes that's a lot of money but that's still less than a new FCL or FW or RMC. I'd rather own a true vintage grail like this than one of those repro's.
Would be a hell of a first vintage jacket as well haha
This jacket has everything going for it. Design, build quality, leather, condition, mouton. And it's rare af.
Did you check the waist measurement? 16" is pretty small, no beer belly allowed.

i feel like ive paid much more for much lesser jackets; so definitely going to give it a good effort. Would be a hell of a first vintage jacket as well haha; its all the way up at 800 now

Nice first vintage and one to end with. You have the advantage if it fits you. The size will keep many away, like me. In a larger size, 42/44 it would be crazy. A reproduction is going to be $2500, right?
It will certainly pass that; I'm guessing $3500-3800. I would pay that in a larger size, but that probably would not be enough.

Luckily 16" is right within the limits of my range, i think im exactly 32 at my waist, Im a climber so my body is built really weird with a massive drop from my chest to waist size.

Nice first vintage and one to end with. You have the advantage if it fits you.
My thinking is if I was willing to pay that for a new japanese reprojacket, why wouldn't I also do so for the genuine real deal. Definitely going to be a tough battle though, already have gotten out bidded into the thousands now

@Coriu , you were wondering how come flight jackets (those with knits, aka bomber jackets) are not as popular as cross-zips of CRs. Here's a Durable horsehide flight jacket which just went for a whopping $149. I did not even consider bidding.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/134096785732

If this was a Durable cross-zip, the price would have been closer to $2,000.

I dunno the reason, other than the general "coolness factor" of moto jackets. In case of Durable, the "Brando factor" comes in as well, but I think the general principle holds, regardless.

Thanks for thinking of me. To each his own in terms of what makes one feel cool. That said, I've always found it interesting, though not terribly surprising, that many lean toward the glamorous, TV-version of a tough guy in leather, like Brando and Dean...instead of the "real" tough guys who wore leather bombers during the wars.

Many of the guys who joined MC's and wore DR's after returning from combat were IDGAF types, and their looks reflected that attitude. Many were tortured souls who struggled to assimilate upon return from overseas. I grew up around one..never combed his hair, circle on the pocket from the Copenhagen, boots that looked like they traveled thousands of miles, and smoked a pipe. Utterly despised anything society thought was cool. They were guys like the fella on Simmons Bilt homepage. Cool without trying to be cool.

If the young set wants to create a new, GQ look with moto jackets, that's fine. But that is never what they were really about. They were the realm of the fringe, be it MC'ers or leathermen...not about those seeking the "perfect" look. That is coming from a GQ guy of the past who "let go" and discovered a new world upon doing so.

Been watching this one for awhile, but I am trying to hold out for a Schott 118 but rarely do they come up in my size. This Branded seems nice but never owned one.

Have both brand in several styles. I love branded garments. They have been around for more than 40 years. I have several of them. They do make a great product for the price. Their gold label are IMHO their best production. For the price and quality there are a hand full of companies that compare. I see Schott as a "fashion" jacket. Schott did make some nice ones but they are not that special to me.

The Schott name certainly brings out a wide range of emotions., especially on this platform. You have the “bury me in my Schott crowd, the indifferent crowd and the “they are not that special or flat out disdain for the brand crowd. I own three Schott jackets and a fourth went to my son, so I fall into maybe the first group. Are there better choices? Absolutely, but a person could also do a lot worse. Maybe it’s my old school mentality that I place Schott bros. with my 40 year old Craftsman tool set in the back of my GMC truck.
All that being said, I keep buying different brands of jackets, chasing the grail but mostly I get disappointed and wind up trying to resell and not lose too much in the process. Maybe that is why I wind up owning three Schott jackets, not really special but tried and true If nothing else. YMMV
