Lol, ton, with many of those vintage jackets not having internal pockets and outside pockets being ornamental, this has been my wallet of late. It works with most of my vintage jackets.

LOL. The phone argument is pretty hilarious for a remake of a 1930’s jacket! I actually think your jacket has it placed exactly where it should be. From an aesthetics standpoint it’s perfect. Tbh I always consider these pockets ornamental. They typically are not wide nor deep enough to hold anything, which is true to the original pockets:

^These pockets seem meant for matchbooks.
This is really the only truly useable chest pocket design for larger items:

This is why small ornamental pockets that are misplaced on a jacket is so bothersome to me…it really serves no purpose other than to look good, so it should do just that. Sorry for letting my Asperger’s slip into the thread. I agree the OP should return this jacket post haste and get one that fits properly.
I think the chest pocket was meant for cigarettes. I think I saw some old ad for a jacket where the chest pocket bag was rubberized for waterproofness.

Edit: just saw your post above regarding the waterproof pockets.

Yes the vintage jackets have tiny chest pockets. But the RC repro has big enough ones. So technically not a repro but a "vintage style". Actually most repro jackets I have come with big enough chest pockets, hence rendering them all vintage style rather than direct reproduction I suppose but more fitting for daily wear.

I haven't smoked for many years but when I did I always carried them in my shirt pocket, never jacket. I don't always have my jacket, and when I wanted a smoke I HAD to have a smoke. But times were different then. And definitely different now.

After seeing more info from OP I too have suggested him to ask for a remake. It's an expensive jacket from Himel and I think he can get it right the second time.

This is what you need:

I have the iPhone 12 mini and I think this^ will likely be my next phone. The mini is too big for most chest pockets, not to mention the pocket bags are seldom deep enough. More importantly the smart phone has become too much of an unwanted appendage.

yeah phone keeps getting bigger and more expensive without any real added benefits but every few years they break down and new roll over plans comes out. Biggest scam of all time.
I’m ready for the next level stuff now, some Jarvis powered glasses like Ironman…

Nice piece and would also correspond to my inner minimalist. Only in practice I am not one (otherwise I would have only two leather jackets and two pairs of shoes).
And I love my iPhone and the comfort it allows, I do not want to give up. For me it is a messenger, a forum reading device, a book, an encyclopedia, a work tool, a camera (in fact I have been taking photos with nothing else for years), a navigation device, a means of payment, ...
The only thing I do with it rather little is to make phone calls with it.
In this respect, a lightphone is a nice idea, for me in practice not liveable. LOL

Why is it so hard to get this type of jacket (half belt, sports jacket, etc)to fit right? I've seen so few ideal fits compared to the multitude of people spending $$$ on mediocre fits, and I include myself in that category. Even going custom or bespoke doesn't seem to avoid the pitfalls. Is it adherence to historical accuracy, and the old patterns are not suited to the modern physique or provide poor mobility? Did everyone's clothes just fit poorly back then? Are we trying to impose a modern interpretation of a good fit on a vintage style? Should we give up and just wear track suits?

Hm, $$$ for sure, but I do like the fit on mine. Brown one is custom, black one was bought from a fellow lounger. Not so hard to get the "fit" right if you know what to look at. If a specific pattern SUITS your body type etc. is a question of personal preferences (think A-2 on a round, stocky guy vs. a tall, lean fellow).

As to the chest-pocket: I didn´t realize it is indeed positioned quite high. Never noticed. I see what irritates people, but these things don´t really bother me personally...

These are great looking jackets. I've seen pics of you wearing them before but I never noticed the high pocket placement tbh. My eye was drawn to the perfect shape of the collar.

Here's a Himel next to an original. I do agree with @ton312, half an inch lower does look better.

A few companies like Nokia still make the old style mobile. I wonder if there is any need for a "new" product like the light phone. LOL. In any case, it will never work for me as we are required by the local Gov't to install a Covid app.

The original is just in a league of its own. What an incredible looking jacket.
