Akubra Stylemaster Mystery - Is it Acorn Fawn or Bluegrass green?

Hi. I ordered an akubra Stylemaster acorn fawn from the battery katoomba and have received it and I am baffled as to what color it really is!

I used to own what I thought was an akubra Stylemaster acorn fawn and it was brown with a golden brown ribbon which matches my ginger beard perfectly. However this akubra Stylemaster acorn fawn I received is nothing like it. First the inner I used to have (and the inner shown on a different website to the battery katoomba) the inside of gold. Yet the one I have received has a white inner which is consistent with the bluegrass color hat.

Taking a photo to accurately represent the bat I have received is very difficult. In person it looks olive green with green ribbon. Yet in photos it very often looks brown.

So has the hattery katoomba sent me bluegrass instead of acorn fawn? What is also interesting on akubra au (which I can't order from because not in Australia and the UK akubra don't sell acorn fawn) the hat looks most like the one I used to own. However on the hattery koomba the photo shown on website does look like my hat in pictures I take (brown) yet in person is green. So I'm quite confused. The lining may be the clue because mine is white whereas the one I used to own was gold and on akubra au the acorn fawn lining is also golden. Yet the bluegrass is white. Do akubra use different color linings for same hat color and is it just a lottery what lining colour you get? Seems a bit strange to me.

Looks like a fawn to me. They also do "Heritage Fawn", which I believe is a little darker, closer to khaki. Bluegrass Green is a very definitely olive shade, undeniably green.

Is your first picture the same hat as the other two? The first looks like it is in the ballpark of what you ordered. The greenish one is not bluegrass green. I will say that colors in digital photos and on computers can vary widely. A picture of my Akubra bluegrass green hat in front of my computer monitor (which shows bluegrass green on Hattery Katoomba's website (where I bought my hat)

shows wide variations, and my hat actually looks completely different than the photo - it really looks just more of a dark "green", without the blue, at least under the fluorescent lights I'm sitting under. I think Hattery Katoomba is reputable, why don't you email them photos with your questions?

Whatever it is, that's not Bluegrass green. I can't say for certain, but I doubt the liner color has much to do with anything.

I agree with Jared. This is Akubra's Bluegrass Green:

Mine most definitely does not look brown, and never has. BUT, I have seen photos of some of Akubra's lighter brown/tan colored hats, and sometimes they had a greenish tint. Not as green as in my photos here, but enough that It could easily be questioned based on those photos.

I have the same hat and to me it’s a sort of mossy brown/green that is very nondescript. I like that about it, it’s very unobtrusive. View attachment 784952

Looking at your hat on my monitor, I'd guess the color was Carbon Grey simply because I see absolutely no brown or green in it's color. It's a nice hat, and now I'm kinda' thinking of getting one in Carbon Grey, but now I'm almost expecting to receive a brownish or greenish hat.

Carbon grey is a nice option. It's too grey (I think with a bluish undertone) to work with earthtones, but if you're going to wear it with black / navy / grey, it's superb. Dark enough to have that touch of formality to it, but less severe than a black hat. Of my first three fedoras, two were MkIII Feds - a brown deluxe, and a regular in carbon grey. I'd hate to go hat minimalist now, but if I had to, those are the two I'd pick as the best all-rounders. The only think that would really improve them in my eyes would be a wide-ribbon brim binding, and a wind trolley.

I also use carbon gray Stylemaster as my non-black go to frequently.

It’s true the colour of that photograph is rather desaturated, perhaps it was the overcast day. However to the eye it looks more brown/greenish and. It really grey at all.
Here it is against a lighter background. For reference the fleece I’m wearing is moss green.
