There are probably vintage jackets we will never see, gone. I have never seen a jacket like this. Read the description. It is reversible. I have a couple of reversible jackets, neither this old. This image is from the 1930 catalog, despite the use of the zipper none are advertised in the Sears catalog until 1933 and on limited models.

This style of jacket was very popular during this era often referred to as a "blouse".

Here’s a super rare reversible snap button front Cossack style jacket that belonged to a friend. I took the second picture of the buttons but I forgot to take pics of the front and back and reversed. I’ll ask for him for more.

If I remember correctly, it has French seaming and a one piece back which along with the look of it made me think possibly Albert Richard by Fried Osterman.

Early Carr snap buttons. Note that it doesn’t say United Carr and says Boston.

This is the jacket referred to in the above image. Note chrome tanned leather specified and front quarter. Another one I've never seen. Note: this was available as a size 48!

Similar to the car coat in the catalog with the inner vest but not exactly the same. I have pictures of others, I just need to find them lol

Super rare 20’s car coat. The horsehide script on the leather label is similar to Rough Wear. Note that is says “Fore Quarter” and not front quarter.

Early California Sportswear

Uber duber rare 20’s JC Penney with what must be the first “Sterling” label. Note that it says Sterling Work Clothes. The later label reads Sterling Outdoor Clothing.

This Californian was probably labeled a Pony hide in the late 30s. Has a grommet zipper assembly. It was old jacket when the movie was made, perhaps from the costume depth. Amazing to me the old, fragile capeskin survived the movie.

Love your jacket, T. I have seen samples of that cape skin used with the jacket. A Ralph Lauren follower on Instagram has one in mint condition. I will post images when I find them. I also had a close up in color image of Kurt wear it at the statute of liberty. As you know, that movie was revolutionary because of the quality of the production in a shoe string budget. Currently, I have a very nice car coat type Californian on that hide. Additionally, the lining on the original jacket was a light brown satin silky finish. Which is also present on my car coat. You can see the jacket's lining of the original when Kurt takes his jacket off as he takes an injection to the neck. I am thinking of doing one my self if I ever get my hands on an original. So if anyone sees one for sale, let me know!

I had a Capeskin version of the Duke from Bill Kelso. It was so light weight, felt like it had no structure. I'm always surprised to find old Cape jackets without scares and damage.

I recently watched The Thing. A great movie. The original use to be on youtube. The main character in the original is wearing an A2.

Got this beaut in the mail today. 50s windward from a lady whose grandpa had purchased it in the 50s! The letter states that it was his first big purchase and he wore it any chance he could get. Definitely sounds like he was a cool dude! Was also surprised to find stars were in the coin pocket.

First time posting on the lounge and felt it was the right time after finally getting this black half belt in the mail today, a personal want of mine. Both half belts are from I believe the late 1930s, if not then the early 1940s due to the Talon codes on the stops.

The brown half belt is my first acquisition from quite a while ago, and is by Monarch of Milwaukee. It's in a fair condition, but it caught my attention immediately with the color. The simple plaid liner and tag really made me dive into this rabbit hole of the various makers and learning more about Monarch.

The black half belt I was lucky enough to purchase, in a pretty large size, is missing its original liner, which appears to not have been wool at the time. Despite this, the leather and color is truly impressive in condition. The seller identified it as also a Monarch of Milwaukee, using an old Japan HundredBuyers listing for what appears to be an identical model with the original Monarch Milwaukee Colt hide tag (The liner remnants appear to match as well).

Really love some of the parallels and similar collar design of these too, as well as the sunrise Talon stops.

Perfect ventilation for this summer!

This awesome jacket was found by a couple of my buddies during a picking trip. this is the first time ive seen it be fully wool as opposed to the capeskin ones. The damage may be heavy but I believe with the proper maintenance and mending, this jacket could breathe new life again.

That looks like a hobo jacket, but the Japanese would totally fix that up. If you end up mending it, I’d use different color yarns. Wabi sabi

Here is one i bought a while back. 40s (hercules?) half belt. I was told when purchasing it that it is potentially from Hercules. The fit is slightly larger than id like but the leather more than makes up for it!

Another one ive had for a while now. Early 40s Californian horsehide half belt. Wartime stop box. Unfortunately the zipper bottom tore off so it can no longer zip up. Still a great fit regardless

Cool vintage half-belt! It does have a wartime zipper with the cutout., a Conmar? I have this zipper on a Sears Topline. Not sure if it is a Sears product. Doesn't make much difference, a nice jacket regardless.
