Up for sale from my personal collection we have this true piece of American workwear history - an original early 1940s/ WW2 Era Sportclad short wool work jackets in a bold red, white and blue plaid. Quite a rare find - most of these work jackets were worn to destruction.
This jacket is absolutely wonderful - medium to heavier weight high quality 1940s era wool, cinch back adjusters, original old Sportclad label, large 1940s era collar. These wool work jackets are reproduced by modern high-end makers, but nothing beats an original.
Sportclad was a prominent American outerwear and workwear brands, especially known during the 1930s and 1940s, often marketed toward outdoorsman and workers. They produced an outstanding array of garments, always with an eye toward craftsmanship and style. This 'red white and blue' pattern was especially popular during the WW2 years.
The wool has small holes and older repairs - I have attempted to capture the most significant signs of use, but please note that I have probably missed some very small areas. Again, the most significant areas will be captured. Overall completely wearable and in not bad condition for its age.
Original wartime Conmar zippers works without any issues.
No size tag, so please see pictures for actual measurements.
Please note that I have exhibited this fantastic jacket as best as I can. As this is a true vintage item, wear marks should be expected. Any significant issues would be shown.
Please note that I am not a professional clothier, but have extensive research and handling of mid-century American motorcycle garments.
If you have any questions about this jacket, please reach out and I am more than happy to answer. I have received all positive reviews from my sales and intend to keep it that way. The newsboy cap is not included in the sale.
Price is $300 shipped in the U.S. Paypal Friends and Family. I've listed this on EBay and have received a number of offers within an hour of posting. Looking to sell here otherwise will sell on eBay. Thanks
