Hello all, brand new member here from Canada. Very interesting discussions - so much for me to learn! I'm not sure where to post so please gently direct me. I'll ne in Barcelona in a week and then driving down the coast to Almeria. Have heard Spanish leather can be nice. Looking for something more substantial than lambskin - cowhide or maybe horse. I like cafe racer style and have been really liking half belt jackets. I already have good jackets for riding my motorcycles, have a 30+ year old shearling since new - no nice leather jacket for getting out and about. Any recommendations or cautions?

Haven't heard a single brand from Spain that would make quality jackets but I'm ready to be surprised! Perhaps some stores in Spain would stock some more famous brands like Schott, but even that is rather doubtful considering the climate.
This is the only place I found that legit might have good stuff in stock:

Spain is expensive now. They produce excellent leathers. I believe their focus is more towards the "fashion industry"? In the 80s they used to make good shoes. My favorites are Yanko. Purchased something similar here from AE. Regarding jackets, the old times can make good jackets. However, I do not think of any small shops that might still be around. Did you try El corte Ingles? They used to sell nice leather jackets...

Doing to Google thing last week I found a few small shops to wander into though feels like a **** shoot - sort of looking for a family owned with the shop upstairs on in back kind of place. Reviews are typically done by people who are not knowledgeable about leather. My wife is going to need Sangria to put up with me. Thanks for the tip on shoes!

I might go to Barcelona soon and I was querying but I haven't seen or known about any shop there that has what we would consider as good leather jackets around here, which is a bummer.

Your best bet I think would be in Madrid for Redcast Heritage (has online shop so you could also buy and send to your hotel or BnB and then return if you don't like it), but they're under works in their physical shop and I don't know if they're done with them (I was in Madrid early June and couldn't go cause of that, second time in a row this happens).

What they do have in Barcelona is Carmina shoes. They have a shop in Passeig De Gracia, just bear in mind they are more dressy than heritage.

In El Corte Inglés I've seen Belstaff and... That's it. You may find expensive leather jackets there but from fashion brands such as Hugo Boss, Armani and, depending on the Corte Ingles and the city, also other expensive brands like YSL.
