Hi all,

Has anyone ever seen a schott perfecto with a buckle with "England" stamped on it?

I'm trying to work out
1. If this is legit (cant see why it wouldnt be).
2. When was this made - I've looked at alot of these jackets recently and not seen any with England stamped on the buckle. Seems odd to me when they're made in USA.

Even asked ai and it hasn't come back with anything.

Thanks in advance.

England was known for stamped or cast things like that.
Even today LW still buys buckles and studs from England as they are still producing quality.
I don't think Schott ever manufactured those, they bought them from international producers, I have also seen Schott jackets with Canadian made buckles.

Definitely legit, not sure about the year, but since it has the pocket tag but no barcode on it i would say 80s or 90s.

Ahh cool!

Okay great thanks for this. Tried another ai search and it says this based on a response Gail had given to someone else asking similar questions on the old forum.

"The Miter buckle can be plain on the back or the word England on the back. Right now all I can tell on what you have stated is that it was made prior to the mid-80's."

So perhaps early 80s then. It's interesting, I keep finding new schott jackets with all these little minor detail differences.

Gail's knowledge is missed for sure!

Thanks for your reply!

The late Gail no the old Schott forums was a real mine of information on their company history. Looks like you struck it lucky with that AI search - genAI is notorious for getting a lot wrong, and sometimes even contradicting itself. Alas, all those systems are designed to give you the answer their algorithms think you want. Whether the answer is correct is a secondary consideration.
