I mean the folds, not the potential mold spot. Is it a repro feature or a lazy feature?
Oh no that's not a problem at all. It's a feature that was also on originals. Both in leather and cotton/wool jackets

I do not think it's mold, but I would certainly spend a handful of CNY to ask your agent for a close up picture of that.

Just got this Leathertogs repro from Simons Leathers delivered.

I'm kind of blown away with the quality of the jacket. The leather is super supple and smells amazing, and all the stitching and so on are spot on(I LOVE the contrast stitching), if someone told me this was a 1k usd+ jacket I would believe them no questions asked!

The only problem is that the jacket I got sent home don't match the stated measurements on the store site, instead it matches a size up(but can't really be sure as the jacket lacks size tags).

I sent the store I bought it from(YR Clothes factory store) some pictures clearly showing this, but they won't take any responsibly instead giving me a song and dance about how "every body are build different", that it's because of the "thick leather" the measurements are off <- lol and that I "have very strict requirements for sizing"<-- no **** haha, anyway the measurements are off from what I ordered and it doesn't really matter why.

Anyway lesson learned that I should always ask for a picture when they measure it before pulling the trigger to make sure I get what I expect, but this have never been a problem before so I've never had to think about that.

The jacket still fits me okay but I'm a fan on rather tight jackets so this will be my layering-jacket for fall(which I do kind of need as all my other leather jackets are "t-shirt tight").

Some fit pics

Hey guys. I've been reading about all the stuff posted about these chinese leather jackets and decided to bite the ****** and buy one. This one is based on a 1930s leather cyclist jacket. Made by 'Veloukldly'. It's also on Tailor Brando and Aliexpress, except on those websites it's around 350€+ (379,99€) on Aliexpress. The same batch is on taobao for 200$ (dollars not euro). I've been doing tons of research on this for the past month while in my search for my first short leather jacket. I've been looking for this very specific model so I decided to give it a shot.

The photos look pretty good, the cut of the jacket seems accurate and the reduced length of the body is better than some other models from european brands that I've seen thus far. The shape on the spearpoint collar on this model is something you don't see even on expensive repros which is very important to the look.
The leather is supposed to be cowhide (2mm thickness according to TaoBao, 1.8mm according to Tailor Brando). It looks right, and it's heavy as hell (3kgs), perhaps too heavy but I like my jackets to be as durable as possible.
It's hard to check the real quality of the leather and the construction without having the jacket in hand, but so far so good. It does match the photos pretty well.
What do you guys think?

Can you post the taobao link? Also, if you have received the jacket I would love to see some pics and get your thoughts on it.

Also: can Dylan navigate Taobao to get the lower price? What does he take as his cut? And do we have to pay US tarriffs on our purchases? Are returns easy?

Without a doubt, he can. But it is impossible to tell if he buys them in Taobao and then resells them or if he works directly getting them from the several makers/factories. Obviously the business for him is taking a cut in each transaction, same as any other business.

Came across some eBay listings for these Chinese-made French cyclist jackets. It might be easier to buy them via eBay, but unfortunately they are listed as substantially more expensive than what was quoted in a previous post ($200). Can anyone comment on quality?

It’s the same jacket as the one posted from taobao, just tailor brando is a reseller, it’ll likely be cheaper on their website than their ebay listing, but still a markup from taobao although tailor brando has cs in english and a return policy.

If that brand is on the same level as the one I tried, which I’ve read they are, then it’s not bad for the tailor brando price and a good deal for the taobao price.

Basically imho they’re better than mall brand and the good pakistani ones, but still fall short of the established leather jacket focused brands/makers.

All that said, I have no idea about that jacket pattern and how it’ll fit, I suggest you ask that guy who ordered it as he might’ve already received it and could give you a review or post some fit pics.

Thanks for your thoughts - I'm hoping that guy will chime in with some fit pics as well.

Here's what youre looking for https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=743860701457
the difference between the one I initially ordered and this one is that this is not as heavy a leather. The jacket is more than 1kg so it's not bad either, but I preferred the brown version.

I cancelled the order and got a refund. I bought a second hand aero half belt instead, didn't want to risk it.

Haha, seems I will have to take a chance if I proceed with the order. Dumb question: when I open the Taobao link, it asks for some login information (in Chinese) and won't let me view the page without it. Do you know how to get around that?

Just recieved my Tailor Brando jacket in the mail today!

This is the model I ordered: https://tailorbrando.com/products/t...er-jacket-biker-jacket?variant=46503802765533

This is what I got. I'll post some fit pics once I'm home from work but I am very impressed right off the bat.

I first found out about these jackets from that awesome review video by member @Squirrel_hero (Thank you, SH!) and it looked so intriguing in his video that I had to look into it more.

Reading all the pages of this thread was a great start. I wasn't 100% sure about ordering when I first messaged Dylan on WhatsApp, but he was so attentive and seemed really genuine - he would pull jackets from the inventory and send pics of him wearing them when I asked to see them, he answered every question I had, was willing to work with my shipping requests and recommended the perfect size. His customer service was what made me take the chance. I ordered directly from the Tailor Brando page as the prices were the best there between Aliexpress, etc. I know it's possible to get even cheaper from TaoBao but I chose to go the Middleman route and I'm really happy I did. It was a much more comfortable experience for me being able to talk, ask questions and have someone I could actually hold accountable should anything go wrong.

From the day I sent payment to the day I recieved it in Canada was SIX DAYS. That's crazy! Dylan said ordering from his website allows him to use DHL.

Upon receiving my jacket I can say already that aesthetically it does the job. The stitching looks clean and tight. Lining is fine.

I am however surprised at how thin-ish the horsehide feels? Not in a bad way, it's just way lighter than I thought it would be, I've had an Aero Indian Ranger, a Five Star Pull-Up A2, and a Schott 613SH and this is by far the lightest and thinnest horsehide I've worn. That being said it's still got a great sheen to it and the grain is really nice and noticeable. For the price, I'm super impressed.

In summary, it looks great, fits great and is already developing some nice rolls on the sleeve and the shoulders and collar are starting to relax. It's not up there with Aero, Schott, Rainbow Country, etc. but at the same time it was $350! It's a great daily driver for Fall date nights and I'm satisfied with it. And Dylan's customer service and communication was a huge plus.

I might order their Perfecto copy next as a gift. I already have a 618 and an 80's Excelled, but would be interested in comparing them. Does anyone have any fit-pics or experiences with this model? https://tailorbrando.myshopify.com/...er-leather-jacket?_pos=3&_sid=261eccf05&_ss=r

There seems to be a bit of a shakeup lately with the Chinese brands. At least as far as what shows up available to the West. A few years ago, Cidu seemed to be the big dog, Curphey a step below, and then everything else. For a while there were a number of models I wanted to try, but never had the gumption to . Ttake the plunge. Then the interesting models started drying up, and I figured I'd go for one. The ones I really wanted had disappeared, but the black horsehide Switchyard looked good. I tried ordering three times. The first place tried to convince me I didn't know my size and tried to send another. I explained that I had researched the Chinese sizing, and was familiar with leather jackets. They finally admitted that they didn't actually have that size left. The second site at least admitted fairly quickly after I ordered that my size was out of stock (both had bogus numbers showing many in stock). The third one sent me a jacket. When the package showed and I balanced it on two fingers, I knew I was up the spout. It was a black switchyard style jacket, with the Veloukldly label. The leather was thin, feather light, soft as mouse fur, and grain corrected to past an inch of its life. It probably would have been right at home as an expensive mall jacket in the womens section. What's interesting is that I'd seen enough pictures of all the little details, that I am quite sure it came out of the same factory as the Cidu but with different leather and lining. I pointed out to the seller that they sent the wrong jacket, and this was certainly not horsehide of any brand, most likely low end cow (possibly lamb). The seller went instantly abusive and rude, going about how I knew nothing about leather, etc. When I sent pictures of my jacket, label and lining along with pictures of other sites selling the exact same Velokouldly (as cow for about 170$ instead of a Cidu horse for 370), he changed his tune and sent me a two word message. Return it.
It's interesting that Cidu seems to have largely disappeared, and Velokouldy (as well as Jiashi) seem to have moved solidly up in ranks. Is it all just the same factory playing with marketing? Most of the Aliexpress sellers that seemed reasonably legit seem to have disappeared as well. Maybe just a shift in East/West availability?
I always wanted a good classic Hercules. If I wasn't now completely over-capacity in the wardrobe, I'd look more carefully at this one. A good picture of how it fits in the back would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear about your negative ordering experiences, @Joseph Hill. Everything you mentioned is exactly why I chose to go with a middle-man like Dylan at Tailor Brando or a site like Crush on Retro. It is possible to these same products for cheaper on TaoBao or Aliexpress, etc. but me personally, and I know that doesn't apply to everyone, really found it beneficial to speak to a person who's language skills were good and who I could personally contact or hold accountable if anything went wrong. If you're interested in trying again, I say you give Tailor Brando a shot.

I've attached some fit pics like you mentioned in your reply.

For reference, I'm 5'7.5", 185 lbs, 41" chest, 19" shoulder width, long arms and short torso lol. I wear Large jackets if they're a more slim fit, and Medium if they're boxy. I wear anywhere from 40 to 42 to 44 depending on the jacket's brand and style. I gave Dylan all these measurements and he suggested an XL and I think he was right on.
