That CSC reminds me of one I got a bit ago. What I find interesting is that there is a throat latch on the collar. I didn’t see any button holes or any needle indentations

Very nice, a popular CSC Style. This is a wartime product with the V zipper. They made this style in horse-side Pony hide goat skin probably Cape skin

First of all, this is a wonderful jacket from one of the greats, Seattle Woolen. I would say it is post 1934 with the half-belt and side gussets with straps. The 1934 date references the Iconic Hercules. I could not find a jacket, in the Sears catalog, that had this design prior to 1934. I continue to believe this is the first use of this style in a fashion jacket.

I continue to search for an example earlier than the Sears Hercules.

And, the Aviator style, as presented, is not seen until the late 30s.

This is a Roughwear Clothing Hercules from 1958, first use of the "Big Zipper" . This was a reference in the Sears Catalog.

1930s soft half belt jacket. Love the back design on this one. I have no idea what material its made of but its soft to the touch. I think the zipper says “B7” but its pretty hard to read

This beautiful jacket was most likely sold as Suede like the jackets below from the 1937 Sears Robebuck catalog. The B7 is February 1937. I have a Suede Monarch was this era, they are very soft. It is not easy to find such fine condition suede jacket this old.

There were some smaller shops who identified their leather more closely. I will look in some old catalogs.

Interesting it has a union tag. Some makers were others were not. That is a good clue to the maker. East Coast store label?

Inspires me to get out some suede.

thanks for the info terry! I had a hunch it was a type of suede. Definitely the lightest suede jacket ive had!

kaufmann’s seemed to be a department store that started in puttsburgh PA and was popular throughout the 20th century. As far as the maker goes beats me id love to know!

I found some pics of my Monarch suede. Same zipper assembly I believe 1937. It is a larger size, 42/44. These jackets were very popular, all the companies made suede jackets. I have a Windward Suede that is named Horsehide, I forgot that one. I will look for some pics.

These are some awesome suede jackets! Its always nice seeing a well kept suede this old. Seems to be the same sleek suede used on mine as well.

No name on this suede smoking jacket. 1940s Conmar zipper. Tobacco pockets.

Sears Topline suede with wartime V Talon zipper. These V zipper were often matched with the sunrise stop box or the new box with Talon down the middle.

30s/40s hercules wool mackinaw pea coat. Amazing condition for age! One of the coolest labels in my opinion and really shows why Hercules was one of the best makers!

That is a beauty, sure looks like deer skin. You don't see the traditional half belt in deerskin. Very nice

That is the famous giant label. Probably didn't go into the 40s. Another beautiful wool coat, I really like the colors.

I love the older plaid wool numbers generally and Hercules's in particularly. The pea coat styles are nice but the shorter, belted versions are even nicer.

An absolute beauty. Are the sleeve knits original out of interest? I haven't seen them on a comparable jacket before.
