Boysville was made for boys, whose sizes only go up to 14-18, as seen in their catalog (linked below). The “prep” label actually went up to sizes 20-22. Your jacket might never show up in the size you want.

Thanks for this, will read with interest. Didn’t mean to imply a boy’s jacket would fit me, however, as I’m a 42-44, just that I keep an eye out for a similar styles.

My vintage Levi's longhorn suede trucker jacket. I only own 2 suede jackets i wear and this is probably my favorite one. The suede is extremely soft but durable. The cropped fit is nice but I find the arms very long, just like regular type 3 trucker jackets. I usually will just cuff the arms if need be.

Beautiful. Looks nice and broken in. Love these MW jackets. These were made by made by California Sportswear. Does yours have the quilt in the sleeve?

Yes it does! Same as the liner on the body.

Looks just like my Montgomery Wards "Styled and Made in California" horsehide.

This is exactly what I thought when I looked the remnants of the tag and the square shaped epaulets.

This is right on the cusp, this transition is interesting to see. This must be c.1950, no mention of the Nylon lining and and stitching on the common 50s Windward label that must follow this? There was the leather labels as well.

50s Montgomery Ward California Horsehide Jacket

Another one I got from Japan that doesn't fit. I am having a bad run :mad: As many will know, this is a 50s MC jacket made in California for Montgomery Ward. It has no size tag, please check the photos for measurements. It has been well used, but looked after, based on its condition. Top notch...

This is right on the cusp, this transition is interesting to see. This must be c.1950, no mention of the Nylon lining and and stitching on the common 50s Windward label that must follow this? There was the leather labels as well.

I believe the “styled and made in California” label from MW ran together with the first Windward label.

The first Windward labeled m/c jackets had the older label and wool liners. Late 40’s.

I also own one of these. Has the original zipper and it’s a late 40’s stop with a 50’s pull which would indicate a transition starting around 1950. Here it is.

The leather Windward label starts 1951 I believe. Here’s mine. I own another one too. Both have Conmar zips that would be the 50’s equivalent of a Talon.

Then you have these guys. Older Windward label but no wool liner and instead appears to be rayon. These are also very early 50’s whereas the wool lined ones are mostly late 40’s and some like mine are right on the cusp.

So I think the wool and rayon lined early label Windwards probably ran together with the “styled and made in California” jackets from the late 40’s and very early 50’s like these.

This one is mine. It’s late 40’s. I also own two more of these with original zips and they’re all late 40’s.

Then these ones are probably very early 50’s.

Yes, all Conmar.

Indeed. New labels seem to coincide with new liner materials at the turn of the decade. Popular use of nylon started in 1950/51. Right before that you mostly see rayon and wool. When nylon came out it was all the rage and companies advertised it as the new best thing. You’ll see overlaps like my Guidemaster and Edgo have wool liners but both have early 50’s zips. Same with an early Kit Karson I used to own. Same with a few of my Buco J-22’s.
