I've been in my nearest thrift store many times, but hadn't ever come across any noteworthy hats. I was happy to find this American Hat Co 3x Clear Beaver today. I planned on selling it (too small for me; 6-3/4), but my kid took a liking to it, so I cleaned and reshaped it for him this evening.

I've never owned a AHC hat before, so I have no idea the age on it compared to looking at Stetsons, Resistols, etc. I'm guessing 70's or 80's. I have to say that the felt is very soft and easy to work with, but takes a bit of steam to get there. I will continue to fine tune the shape, but overall am very happy with the results. I can't complain for $20 and my boy loves it as his 1st western hat.

The last pic is just showing the original shape as I forgot to take a before photo.

After checking out that eBay listing more closely, they had it listed as a 60's hat. Other similar hats in the forums I've run across speculate that it dates to the 60's or 70's.

I have a new Guy Morse-Brown brim curl tool inbound so Ive been looking for project hats to play with. Particularly looking for big brims but with a modest crown height. This little hat got a $12 placeholder bid on a Goodwill auction and evidently no one else bid. I love $12 hats lol. cant see all the tags in the pictures, but its a Mexico made Resistol Jason Aldeen hat. I have no fantasy about it being a top tier hat ( Im sure its a wool blend) , but I DONT see a 100% wool label so who knows...Will see what Mexico Resistols are like

Soon to get cleaned flattened and curled
