Fantastic hat Dutchess! It really suits you!

I was thinking it's later than 30s, but here's a page from MW 1935 and it shows veils?

Dutchess, can you share a picture of the label if it has one? A lot of time that can help determine the date. That style was popular in the 30s but came back again in the late 40s/50s. It's really cute!
Texasgirl, veils were super popular in the mid 30s but most of them have gone by now from hats :( I just LOVE some of the hats with veils in the old movies. If only we could find more that are still intact! LOVE that scan!! I'll take the 88 cent number, please! :D

Alas, the hat has no label. But this is what the back looks like.

The slightly pointed shape in the front, the angle you have to wear at and the very art-deco shape on top with the small bow made me think it is 1930's. But it is in mint condition, so has probably never been worn.

I realised I have a hat very similar to the middle one at the top of TexasGirls image:

Here's another early 30s number of mine with a great crown. This is currently my favourite hat! It's quite amazing and I need to make a great outfit to go with it. Slightly washed out in the pic - the dark stripe is more maroonish than it appears here.

And I just scored this sporty little gem. They have it on the model back to front:

Turban-like hat

My new green velvet hat. It looks a bit like a turban and has a small bow at the back. It has straw and wire in the rim (I removed the lining to clean it) and had an elastic attached. I'm not sure how to wear it nor do I know how old it is. Ideas anyone?

Yay! More hats!

Late 20s/early 30s red hat from The May Company, Cleveland. I believe the plain part is the front but I kinda like it both ways. Can't wait to wear this one.

Brown 30s sports hat by Jean Nedra. Seems like someone has cut the brim down on this slightly.

And just because a girl can never have too many brown 30s hats, a Riding-style number that I hope to wear with my Hacking gear. This is lovely quality felt.

Like the Nedra hat, really like hats like that, they don't exactly like me though. [huh]

Thanks, Daisy. It's a really good basic sporty number, which goes surprisingly cheap alot of the time. Perhaps you need to try a few styles to find one that suits you? You have such a pretty face, I'm sure you will suit something!

I actually prefer alot of plainer hats over the fancier ones, as a rule, as I find them easier to wear.

Err, and I am waiting on a red felt to arrive in the mail too. I have hat binged recently. Naughty me.

Here's a couple hats I found waaaay in the back at an antique store.

Trial run for hair I did on my mom for my wedding day. Black satin hat with beading along the front. It once had a veil as there were remnants.

Ivory velour fabric that had a brooch on the front. It looked pretty much the same as the black satin one, except for the front folded up and there was no beading. Just the brooch.

My mom ended up wearing the ivory hat for my wedding:

This movie on Sunday night looks like it's going to have some great outfits, but the hats look especially lovely!
