Ski Gear
I am in the process of creating my vintage ski outfit for this season. And yes, it's wool and itchy--hence the long thermal underwear. The plan this year is to master the art of "Telemark" skiing. Anybody ever try that?
Easy as 1,2,3!!
Hey there. It's been ages since I have posted anything here...
Well I am a beginner at sewing, but have made several dresses, all from the Lutterloh system. I bought some books off e-bay from the 40's, called "der goldene Schnitt". You have to draw you own pattern, but it's...
I wear vintage clothing and repro's to work every day. Since I ride my bicycle to work in the summer, pants are more practical, but skirts wtih enough room to move are good too. So Marlene Pants are always great, dresses with sleves (tattoo coverage when appropriate), and I have several skirt...
Thank you Major!!!
So guess where I am from: DAVOS!!! Yes indeed. If you are interested in any more specific info on this topic, I'll get it for you. I am so happy that my hometown is for once mentioned under a topic other than the World Economic Forum. :eusa_clap
Translation
Trachtenmode is the general German term for traditional clothing. You know, those outfits you associate with "The Hills are alive".
Good Luck!
Whom better to ask...
Hello Kat, sorry for the late reply. I myself am also a lover of all vintage alpine wear (as the name implies), and have found the best sweaters in this style on ebay.de. Go to Kleidung: Trachtenmode.
Never thought you would be browsing that area, did you? but...
30's and 50's
I ride ladies' bicyle from 1939, and I just finished restoring a Vespa VNA 2T from 1959. In addition we have a tandem from the 30's. Cars are not that vintage: a 1994 Buick Park Avenue, and a 1977 Dodge Aspen Sedan.
Pictures to follow!!
Hmmm...knitting patterns. I recently bought a knitting magazine from the 40's from ebay Germany. There are tons of dresses, sweaters, even swimwear patterns in there. I would really want to make a whole suit from that magazine, but just the thought of the time it will take is overwhelming. The...
Thank you all for the great tips. Seems like we have to order hats from the States, because around here it is not that easy to come by a good lid these days. Especially since I have no idea what these styles translate into German... :cool2: (this smiley looks like Anton aus Tirol, jawohl!)
Hello gentlemen,
I am posting this question for my significant other, who finds himself in an utter dilemma: he wears western shirts (from plain plaid ones to heavily embroidered kinds), and would like to wear a hat with them other than a stetson cowboy hat.
Any advice? Both of us are a...
I agree with the hands thing. Seems strange, but if I do not like the hands on a guy, I don't want to imagine being touched by them. I go for construction workers hands, mostly...know what I mean?
And for me, a man must be original. Not following fashion and trying to be cool. Being...
German Heroes
Hello all. I just felt the urge to add that basically half of the male members from my mother's family were killed in the war, fighting for the German side. I know that this is an American forum and German Soldiers probably are not praised often, if at all, but I remember my...
I just had an argument with someone about this and need your expertise opinion to back me up: What were the standard rules for American females in uniform during WWII?
Thanks for your help.
