What grind coffee are you using? If you just took a can of Foldgers or Maxwell House off the shelf, it's going to brew very bitter. Pre-ground coffee is usually fine grind - designed for drip coffee makers. Percolators use coarse grind. I buy a bag of whole bean coffee and grind it at the...
Depends on the weather for me -- in the dead of winter with heavy snow and frigid temps, fur felts are heartier and warmer. For the cooler months, I prefer wool felt.. crushable or not.
I have several wool crushables I wear regularly when it's not super cold out (fall and spring) because I...
Just purchased this art deco Wear-Ever stove top percolator on ebay. Can't wait to use it!!!!
I have a new Presto 12 cup electric percolator I bought on Amazon for when company comes over.. as it makes coffee much faster than a stove top model.. but there's nothing like the smell of a stove...
This is the bag I carry with me just about everyday. I really don't understand what the big deal is with men carrying bags. Why jam everything into our pockets? I personally like having all my stuff in one place.. nothing accidentally goes through the laundry, or falls out of my pockets -- or...
It was from an estate sale and was sitting in a corner of a dust and dingy basement where it's probably been for a few decades. The rubber cord is some what frayed in spots (and actually rather sticky). While I was cleaning up the chrome base, I noticed the wires going in and out of the unit...
I picked this Hoover up at an Estate Sale today for $5. It has deteriorated too much for me to even attempt to plug it in -- and is well beyond my capabilities to restore to working order.. but I thought it made a cool "decoration" in my kitchen as a display item.
Thankfully I've never had a problem wearing a hat in a car - and I'm 6ft tall. Anything "formal" (not as formal as black tie mind you.. not that I ever have occasion to go to a black tie event) but along the lines of a wedding. There's no hat or coat checks any more... and I'll be darned if...
Hi Scion!!! I have two currently: I have a brown diamond porkpie and just purchased a grey with brown trim "cowbell" porkpie. I love the shape, hate the name "cowbell" lol.
The cowbell has a brown leather under brim which makes it rather interesting. The brims are quite stingy, which I love...
I wouldn't classify them as hipster -- they are a taking a classic look and updating it, which constantly happens to clothing. Sometimes a guy likes to add something different. [huh]
Thanks, Tonyb! I do pop in every week or so to see what's happening in the lounge.
I know there is a bit of a prejudice for wool fedoras. I myself have always owned fur felt for the winter time -- but I've found a brand that I am very happy with.

As much as I love my fur felt hats, the leather sweat bands make them too warm...
