Who Did You Just See Live?

I just saw the Cherry Poppin Daddy's 2 weeks ago, they were awesome. After the show I got to meet the entire band and chatted with them with my friends for a while. I originally saw them back in 1991 in a little bar in Portland.

    Darker Vintage looks

Darker vintage looks seem to fit me well also.

    Not able to dress vintage?

I have a few pairs of Danskos too, a pair of Mary Jane style in red and a couple of the slip on style with the closed in back (the professional style). I do wear them with my vintage at least a few times a week because I suffer from a lot of foot pain and they really help. Also I have to mention...

What decade most flatters your figure?

The 20's and 30's suit my flapper-esq type body the best because I am short and thin (5 foot 2 and 103lbs. just like Louise Brooks was during her hey day). The 20's and 30's is also my favorite era's.

    Cardigans, cardigans, cardigans!

I have several of these myself and I love them too. As far as care goes I use dryerell on them when they need cleaning and freshening along with an occational steaming. As far as storage goes I keep most of my sweaters in a big 1920's steamer trunk with cedar blocks and handmade herbal sachets...

    Intrested in Burlesque

I know a Burlesque gal that I would say is about 4 foot 11 inches, she is tiny but real curvy. Her name is Lucky Lucy O' Rebel. She is great at what she does and a sweet heart too! I have seen her perform many times here in Portland (I am a vintage lingerie vendor at burlesque shows here in my...

    1920's makeup

Mac's Diva lipstick is a deep berry wine color (at least that is how I would describe it) it looks very vampy/flapperish. I will going this weekend to buy some I saw it on a friend and loved it and then I went to Mac a couple weeks ago to have a look see at it.

    A skirt for this sweater

I am with RR on this one - to go with a pencil skirt. When you accessorise and pull the look together go for a late 40's early 50's look.

    Shoes for work

I will chime in here about the Dansko's...I have had nothing but foot problems since my early 20's (I worked as a hairstylist for 9 years standing on cement, linoleoum, and tile floors) my feet KILLED me until I had jobs where I was not standing. Now fast forward to now I am 42 and the jobs I...

    Blade Runner remastered

I love the movie Blade Runner so much it is almost and obessesion. The view from my apartment reminds me very much of the city scape in the movie. Plus the climate here in Portland reminds me of the movie too - it is dark, hazy and or cloudy very much of the year here plus it is raining...

    Draw the shades!

I live in an old apartment building pre 1930's, I think it may even be a hundred years old. I do not know how I lucked out because all of the other tennents have ugly mini blinds but I ended up with these really cool Roman type shades. They are a really thick Linen, cottony, canvas like...

Comments You Get When You Dress Vintage

Hi Tishkaminx - Your mum sounds just like mine...she had to wear all of that stuff back in the day too. She will not wear make-up and wears her hair in a steel grey wash n wear granny perm (she is 78 and a grandma and that is her excuse). She loves to wear jeans, denim shirts, flannel, and...

    Pomade in men's hair, ladies?

I like pomade in a guy's hair - I like the way it looks (like old time movie stars) but I am not one for running my fingers through men's hair so it works for me.
