Help dating a pre-'55 Lockheed Test Services belt-back work jacket!

Hi, everyone. I have hit a plateau in my research, and would greatly appreciate help! I just bought a 3/4 length herringbone denim work jacket that has 5 donut hole buttons with "Union Made" on them that are hidden when the jacket is closed. The union tag is very faint, but it is the Duck Goods...

    My Swing Era dictionary

Hey, Talbot, I'm still looking into this. Where did you hear it?

Good to know :) My girlfriend has an online vintage shop, and we're selling them there. Here's the Dali tie story; We were in a privately owned thrift store run by a crazy lady. She was talking with my girlfriend about having her help price her vintage, while I dug through barrels of ties...

WHAT CAN THE FEDORA LOUNGE DO FOR YOU?

Hi there. I don't dress in vintage all the time... I am rambunctious (sometimes, I run on moving trains, when I get stuck waiting for them, and other similar [Parkour] things), and I don't want to ruin good clothes. However, when I go out dancing, and such, I wear it. My girlfriend and I went to...

    My Swing Era dictionary

Thanks, Lolly. I didn't find this when I searched. I'm going to read it all soon! Talbot "A real George to try" is just after my cut-off date, and means "Easy, or fun to try." It's more associated with "Bop" use. I could add a bunch of words to the original thread, if you'd like. This thread...

    My Swing Era dictionary

Yeah, that's a fun one. As far as I know the phrases like this were just funny pairings of thongs that didn't go together (Bee's knees being the most popular) There was also The Elephant's wrists, The Snake's hips, The Ant's eyebrows, etc..

    Hahaha! That's funny, Mario!

WTB: Black Cavanagh and other older vintage black fedoras

If you decide to accept less brim, I am about to sell a Knox Custom, size 7 with original box. It has a 2" brim. The hat is in excellent condition. It was stock when I got it, and I wore it 2x, because it's too small. The box is worn, because I moved several times, including overseas.

I'd have to dig up pics, and videos.. here's a more recent one of what my acrobatic Lindy background turned into; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbF48zlEKxM I'm the guy in the silver pants :D I choreographed, and taught the others this routine for a local talent contest. I started swing...

    My Swing Era dictionary

Have you heard a word, or phrase from between the mid '20s, and late '40s and wondered what it meant? If so, I may have an answer, and possibly etymology for you. Leave it here, and I'll see.... I have been compiling a dictionary for many years, as part of my passion for vintage style. It's...

WHAT CAN THE FEDORA LOUNGE DO FOR YOU?

It may seem funny for a person with 4 posts to reply here, but, I have an answer ;) Along with my newly rekindled interest in vintage style, The Fedora Lounge has fueled the fire. I am an acrobat, in a place that celebrates style (and, unfortunately lack, thereof) and have had a pretty...

    NRA Label Overcoat

Nice! I just got 2 with the '39 label. One is double breasted, also, and has has HUGE peak lapels, and the other is single with regular wide lapels. I have been looking for about 15 years, and they were right next to eachother at Goodwill :)

I am keeping the Dali, if you're asking about it ;) I am selling the rest elsewhere, and definitely understand a policy of not advertising (especially from a newbie). Just yesterday, I found a hand painted '40s tie at the Goodwill bins. It probably cost ten cents :D There are beautiful ties...

    LOTS of 1920s TIES

Marc, would you mind terribly, to measure the length of the longest of those ties? I'm trying to determine if I have any '20s ties. Mine look very much like yours. I did read that they are typically 44" or shorter, and want to know if there are any exceptions.
