Fellow Collectors,
Just got a G-1 that has two labels in it. It has the US Wings label and a Cooper Sportswear label. This jacket has the side pockets that US Wings puts in the USCG jackets. Was this jacket one of the prototype jackets that US Wings developed to get the contract away from...
Fellow G-1 Jacket Collectors,
Good evening and Happy New Year. Hope you all had a safe and restful holiday. I have a question. I recently acquired a very pristine Orchard M/C G-1 jacket owned by a US Coast Guardsman. Only item I removed was the velcro name tag tape. However, when I...
Fellow G-1 Jacket collectors,
I have a question on the brand of zipper that was used on the Monarch G-1's, circa 1950s. I recently bought a 1950s vintage Monarch G-1 that unfortunately has a small cut in the zipper tape (which I understand is very difficult to repair). I was looking to see...
Peacoat,
Good evening. The description says it is a 1962 or 1963 jacket. Label reads:

Fellow G-1 Collectors,
I am looking at a Irwin B. Foster G-1 on eBay in Size 46. I tend to fit a larger 46 to a 48. Based on your experience, would the IB Foster 46 be a bit snug for me? Just wondering if it is worth the bidding. Thanks
Cheers,
Mike

One question, Shipmates. Just acquired a Cagleco Sportswear G-1. Contract number is N383-28657A. Can anyone tell what year this contract number matches.....I assume it is sometime in the 1950s. Thanks so much.

Mike

Fellow G-1 collectors,
Just wanted to inquire as to what you think would be a fair price for a Cagleco G-1 in Excellent condition? Saw one on eBay and the asking price seems to be too high. Just wanted to know what is fair. Thanks for the counsel and advice.
Cheers,
Mike
Shipmates,
Good evening. Was just wondering if I could get some sage advice from the G-1 collectors. Saw the following label on a jacket and was wondering if it was a 1960's vintage issue jacket:
BUREAU OF AERONAUTICS USN FLIGHT JACKET INTERMEDIATE
G-1SPECIFICATION NO. MIL-J-7823 (AER)...
Fellow Jacket Collectors,
Was just wondering if anyone had come across any documentation to support removing the fur collar from the G-1 jacket in hot climates (e.g. Cockpit USA sells a G-1 jacket version (the "Forrestal" version) which is supposed to imitate what some Vietnam War aviators...
Deacon,
Your write-up on the Cockpit USA 100 Mission G-1 jacket was "spot on!" I got one and it fits just as your said....a bit more like a 47 than an 48. Got me turned on to the Cockpit USA Vintage G-1 Jackets with patches. I got the A-7 Intruder jacket and the "Classic Vintage" jacket...
Thanks to all my fellow G-1 collectors for your advice and counsel. I took your advice and "pulled the trigger" on this jacket. One more truly vintage G-1 to add to my totally "wearable" collection. Rest assured that I truly trust your advice and counsel. Thanks for your help.
Cheers,
Mike
