    Good Suits

Can anyone recommend a brand for current good quality suits? It seems like over time, any that I can find anywhere tend to be made of thinner and thinner material, and therefore they don't last as long as they should. I'd prefer heavier, more durable, wool, over lighter.

    A few suit questions.

I find myself in the situation in which I need a couple of good, new suits. Wearing a couple of lesser suits out, outgrowing (waste wise) my Brooks Brothers suits, and simply having managed to avoid wearing suits much for the past several years has managed to put me in this situation and it...

What is the quality of Stratton's fur felt?

I have a National Park Service type campaign hat that I actually got to replace an old good quality replica of the first pattern M1911 Campaign Hat that I used as a fishing hat. I don't like it as much as the hat that passed on, but so far its been serviceable. The felt is incredibly thick. I...

    Cloth sweat band

I pondered trying that and couldn't find anything on how to to do it. I'll look up the information re Scott. If anyone has any links (or instructions) on how to do it, I'd love to receive them.

    Cloth sweat band

I'll try to keep my story short here, but I'll add a little background to my question. I had a really well made M1911 campaign hat replica that was really first rate. Shaping it field style myself (bending the brim down fore and aft), I wore it as a fishing etc. hat for years. It took a...

The Non Shorpy Web All Stars.

I'm sure some wouldn't regard these folks as "all stars", but an interesting vintage photo. The "Cairo Gang", British police anti republican agents in mufti, circa 1920, trying to appear like what they figured the locals looked like.

    1900s Stetson Catalog *reprint

I'm amazed by the prices. Using an inflation calculator, these hats were very expensive.

    Question[s] about a Stetson[s]

Am I reading this right that a No. 1 Quality hat cost $60.00? That would have been over $900 in contemporary greenbacks.
